This flight was a great opportunity to keep playing with active flying and getting the most out of relatively weak spring thermals. I'm always keen on feedback, let me know if you if you see anything in my flying that I could improve!
There were 5 things I was focused on:
1. A smooth and controlled launch
2. Reducing side to side swinging (a sort of oscillating role) that I have sometimes experienced when in thermic air. I got back in touch with my instructor and he advised tensing my core mucles and applying a little brake evenly on both sides. That worked well on this flight.
3. The 3 Ps of active piloting. I found this approach to active flying on Passion Paragliding's site (www.passionpar.... The Ps stand for Pitch control, Pressure and Potatoes. Check out the Passion Paragliding site for a full explanation. It's nice and simple and I find the mental image of a sack of potatoes more effective than just telling myself to relax.
4. Staying in narrow thermals by keeping the turns both flat and tight. I've been following Kelly Farina's '4 for 90' rule.
5. Really, really, really focusing on a visual target when landing
