We travel to the city of palaces, Mysuru, where Sandhya Mendonca finds maverick theatre personality and activist Prasanna getting ready to stage an unusual version of the Ramayana. In rehearsal for three months, the play is opening on May 5. Prasanna talks about what has led him back to theatre after eschewing it to set up women's co-operatives in rural Karnataka.
Unassuming and soft-spoken, Prasanna talks about people's empowerment, the environment, and slow living. From IIT Kanpur to the National School of Drama to Marxist theatre, and a stint in corporate life - the trajectory of his life has been broad and interesting.
