02/15/21 - At 4:43 PM on Monday, a two vehicle t-bone accident occurred at the intersection of southbound International Drive and Little Lake Bryan Parkway. One of the vehicles, a white 4-door Toyota, was hit squarely in he driver's side doors and came to rest in the northbound lanes. The call was dispatched as a standard traffic collision, but shortly after arrival, 56 crews found that the driver of the white vehicle was pinned and upgraded the call to an entrapment. Squad 1, Truck 54, Rescue 54, and Battalion 7 were dispatched to the scene and arrived less than 10 minutes later. E56 immediately began stabilizing the vehicle and preparing for extrication. Upon arrival, #OCFRD Squad 1 and Truck 54 began cutting the roof and the left side doors, successfully removing the patient after about 7 minutes. Both drivers involved in the crash were transported to hospitals.
Notes: Some of the footage in this video was shot vertically for Instagram, but I cropped it to fit here and add a few on-scene panoramic shots. I didn't know what condition the driver was in, so I did not film the actual extrication itself.
I heard this accident happen, and there was no skidding or any horn heard prior to impact. No tire marks were visible on the road either, so this collision was likely at least 45 MPH straight into the driver's door of the white car.
