Sure brought back some memories...we had a 17 ft cedarstrip and an 18 Evinrude and we would put in at the Engineers Dock and would be at the Short Turn from supper till dark, wet or dry ,cold or hot all summer through the week...We would net some shiners once a week at the ponds near the main gate and keep them in the sink in the basement. We would fish live suckers for Pike and dead ones for Sturgeon. Anchoring in the main current near the deadhead at the last island of the Short Turn using a heavy sinker with a #4 hook with a silver spinner and wire leader and a live minnow jigging on the bottom always let us catch something. Sometimes a Sturgeon would cause us to up anchor and it would pull us all over the river... Dad got one that was over 90 lbs... Remember losing one that I swear had a head the size of a snow shovel. The best trips were the twice a year when we motored the boat to DesJoachim dam and fished the coffer dam and camped out on a sand bar overnight. Filled the bottom of the boat with yellow pickerel and sauger... freezer was always full of fillets. No limit those days. Really big bass were to be had off the tip of the sand bars with a live dew worm... I think we fished nearly every lake and river and stream on the base and the East side of Algonquin between Pembroke and Mattawa. The mouth of the Dumoine was always a productive trip for really big Walleye. Your boat would be ideal for all the Ottawa trips. ..

Thanks for sharing that story. Those were the days I bet. Sturgeon is now permantly closed. I have been fortunate to have caught 2 in my time. Epic catch. Bass are still decent in the River but big ones are usually caught in the fall. I love hearing your memories. I will be fishing the mouth in a few weeks. I hope you share that experience with us as well. Thanks for your support of our channel. Cheers.

@@NTSAdventures always released the Sturgeon as they were not all that good to eat...my opinion...lol The spawning sturgeon were fun as you could grab their tail and go for a ride... second rapids up from the mouth of the Petawawa in early May, the bottom would be covered with big fish...lol

Second hook up is a trailering on road safety. Just like safety chains on trailer. Music is a personal choice. Folks that watch your type of videos want to hear the wind & motor sounds, its part of the experience. Enjoyed sharing your adventure.

Awesome! Thanks for the information regarding the hook. As for the music, I kind of agree. I'm glad you mentioned it. I have been waiting for some feedback on the matter. It is kinda distracting but sometimes I feel its 'akward' without it. I will make some changes next video. I truly appreciate the comments! Cheers.

Thanks for that but I have a cable. I just don't attach it when fishing the point as I live 2 blocks from the launch! Thanks for the catch.
