Here you go! "The antiferromagnetic Heisenberg spin chain with integer spin has a short-range magnetic order and an excitation energy gap above the ground state. This so-called Haldane gap is proportional to the exchange coupling constant J of the Heisenberg chain. In this study, we discuss recent results about the spin dependence of the Haldane gap and conjecture an analytical formula valid asymptotically for large spin values. We then discuss the robustness of the edge states of the spin-1 chain by studying a spin-1 ladder using the density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) algorithm. We show that the peculiar hidden topological order of the spin-1 chain disappears smoothly by increasing the ladder rung coupling without any intervening phase transition. This is evidence for the fragile character of the topological order of the spin-1 chain."

and this proves what? nothing at all... there are people who are not in aa that use a clean date as a barometer of where they have been and where they are going. there are also buzz words that help people cope with day to day stuff... it means nothing other than a tool they use to help them stay sober. the point is... use what you need to get sober... if that is a 12 step by all means go for it... BUT whatever you do be safe and guard your mind.

@@TalkSober It merely proves “group think and behavior”. How many former cigarette smokers do you know? How many feel it necessary to still call themselves a smoker when they haven’t smoked in years? Would be kinda weird for a person who hasn’t touched a cigarette in two years to say, “My name is so and so and I am a smoker”. Furthermore, how many former cigarette smokers can not complete a paragraph with out pointing out how long it’s been since they had a smoke or a litany of slogans like brain washed sheep? That would be kinda silly and counterproductive, correct? Would at least be boarding in “cultish”. It’s not normal to run around notifying everyone how long it’s been since you consumed a mind altering substance! Want a medal? You shouldn’t have been consuming it in the first place!

Coming from a "Woo Woo" perspective I think the things we can't see can be the ultimate predators. I believe that people who overconsume are feeding something with their anguish, depression, cravings, etc. Someone who was providing sustenance for this unseen character, demon, negative energy for a long time suffers when we go to AA, go cold turkey, and quit. Going strong for ten years and then gets a monkey wrench thrown into his life! Could this negative character be trying to get a Michelin-rated meal out of you?

Something to ponder. Former cigarette smokers who quite smoking ARE NOT ever expected by this society of any group of people to continue to identify themselves as current “smokers” when they haven’t touched it in years?. Let alone go to three meetings a day to ruminate in it? Counter productive? Correct? .
@Bonnie-fh8up

I agree with you 100 per cent. I think ruminating and declaring yourself an alcoholic every day is only reinforcing it. I choose to be and view myself as recovered . And plan to stay on this road. I am determined and wiser for having crossed this rubicon. ! Proud of it; and getting stronger every day. (one year and a half sober now)

again... its the type of chemical... i have both been a smoker and a drinker... smoking never made me smoke so much that it made me drunk and impaired my judgement or mind... comparing the two is grasping at straws. if going to three meetings a day helps someone stay sober... and that works for them... why would you have an issue with that? i mean i know many people who go to church and like that... myself i do not... but it if helps them and does not hurt others... what is the harm?

@@TalkSober it does hurt many. The AA ideology is cultic and brain washing. Insinuating that I’d you don’t drink all the Koolaid, you will “die” and “your misery will be refunded”! It’s especially harmful for females considering the rooms are loaded with predators! For instance, under banner of “anonymity”, the guy sitting next to a new comer woman could be a serial predator a week out of prison and forced to attend as part of his parole.. Correct? Who would know that in that “recovery” room? I’ve seen many women and their children preyed on by perverts and predators in those rooms. The “anonymity” is a perfect breeding ground for PEDOs and perverts who have access to vulnerable females in a broken and desperate state! And “sponsors” who require said females to attend “90 in 90” which often requires them to bring their minor children to meetings! I’ve seen men with 34 years “sober” preying in a 16 year old new comer girl.. Let talk about that.. Her parents sent her to “the rooms” because they were trying to help their daughter and save her life! Long story short? All the dirty “ old timers” in said room drive her out! She relapsed and died! Let’s have that conversation! All those dirty old men touting their “clean time” still sit in that room today educating everyone else on “recovery”, “sobriety” and “spirituality”! 😂

Alcohol is not “cunning, baffling or powerful.”. Alcohol doesn’t “do push ups in the parking lot”. It’s an inanimate object. A substance like caffeine. The individual can choose with in their own power to partake in it or not. Correct?
@TalkSober

alcohol is very different from caffeine... caffeine does not cause one to be drunk or chemically dependent... it also does not cause insanity as alcohol does... and certainly not in the same numbers. furthermore drinking a few cups of coffee does not make one crave more coffee in the way alcohol does nor does it impair your judgement to have more and more and more even when it's dangerous. is it powerful... yes, it is... cunning and baffling are describing the craving and addiction. which is also powerful.
