Prefab Sprout being interviewed by Philip Schofield, on 'Going Live' in January 1991. This was sent in by Ian Cook, and has been brought to you by www.prefabsprout.net
Prefab Sprout have provided my life with the greatest of soundtracks and I will forever be grateful.

Loved this. Agree that it seems incredible that such a band was interviewed in a fairly intelligent manner on children's tv. Pure gold!

Props to Phil he genuinely liked the band, he had a Thursday night show on Radio One in the very early 90s, and that was where i first heard The Sundays and The The too among others; very catholic taste, big 'indie/alternative' fan back in the day! Great footage. x

I would do anything to warp back in time, answer that question, and win that box. So amazing. What a great and generous interview. The best band that isn't appreciated as much as it should be.

What a fascinating interview, hearing all of the band speak, not just Paddy. I can't believe Paddy gave away his own gold disc! I wonder who got it? I only hope they've treasured it over the years.

No artifice to any of this. Imagine such a thoughftul and modest interview with a pop band on a kid's tv show these days... Our culture has dumbed down so much, in such a short time.... Bittersweet....

Who would have thought at the time that in 2020 you could look back at 'Going Live' and say 'that's a cultural high point' in not only children's Saturday morning TV but light entertainment in general! 100% correct Daniel, we live in sad times where intelligence isn't valued, genuine interest/enquiry doesn't exist and musicians and celebrities are vacuous self-obsessed children.

Schofield thinks he's funny trying to make out theres fillers on this masterpiece. Martin is deadly serious when he says actually we had loads more brilliant tracks that wouldn't fit.

I feel so sorry for these four talented, intelligent individuals having to talk to endless idiots and pretend to be idiots themselves. No wonder Paddy decided to lock himself in Andromeda Heights with the phone off the hook.

Could be, but I think you're too late, the prize will have been won by now. Unless Philip forgot to do the draw. Might be worth sending a postcard to BBC, Woodlane etc.
