Since it's a long video we weren't able to get Korean subtitles on it. And I also wanted to type out the English closed captions on KZitem, however it kept crashing, so currently it's just the automatic closed captions in English at the moment. Our next video will have both Korean and English embedded though. Also I am now currently 33 weeks!

Oh my word, our pregnancies sound almost identical! I am 33 weeks now, also with a girl and we have a son who is 2. I have experienced, and continue to, all your symptoms too. I can really empathize with the fears and anxiety. My husband is also korean and ironically, this pregnancy, i almost only craved Umma's (his mom) kimchi and cooking. 🤣 Wishing you the best in your final weeks! Hang in there, you are an amazing mama!

Congratulations!! I watched your first pregnancy video before we got pregnant, and now we have a new born I can totally relate to everything you're saying. 3rd trimester was actually the best for me too, as the overwhelming nausea was gone (I got to 24 weeks before I stopped throwing up). Pregnancy is hardcore and we are all valid in our complaints and frustrations. It doesn't mean we are not grateful for the baby. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you can make it to 38 weeks and have the birth experience you want.

I've never been pregnant, so I can't fully understand the pregnancy nausea, but having migraines with aura I can at least somewhat feel for you. When I get auras, my vision gets worse and you have to concentrate so much to focus on anything and then you get dizzy and nauseous, for me personally that is always worse then the migraine headache! I also have really bad motion sickness and again, this whole dizziness leading to nausea. I hate it! And I can't imagine having to deal with that feeling for 5 months!

Thank you for sharing this update! I feel like there’s a lot of things that pregnant women go through and it’s never talked about. I don’t know if I’ll ever have the experience of being pregnant, but morning sickness being like food poisoning every day does sound truly awful. And I have GERD, chronic acid reflux, so my babies will probably be extremely hairy 😂 I had a lot of hair when I was born, too. I hope that the rest of your pregnancy goes well, that you have an easy birth, and that your newborn girl is healthy!

I know that every country and every hospital have its own way on the handling of moms and newborns. For me giving birth at 29 weeks was quite scary because of the unknowns for my health and baby's health. Fortunately we both were doing well. At our hospital where my son was in the NICU for 78 days, we were allowed to visit 24/7 but only 1 parent was allowed to visit due to their covid protocol so my husband and I would switch off. I first got to hold my son and do skin to skin when he was 6 days old. They wanted to make sure he was stable enough to withstand lots of movement and make sure it was warm because at that time he couldn't regulate his temperature yet. Our hospital encouraged us to visit daily and do lots of skin to skin to help our baby and us to grow healthy and create a bond. I'm so blessed to have that experience. He's now 14 months old and doing well. We are located near Los Angeles, California.

My Hg pregnancy was so bad I literally would fantasize about getting an abortion or falling down the stairs to make the pain stop. Obviously I would NEVER truly want that… this was my rainbow baby and very much wanted but no one around me understood how awful it was… it felt like I was dying. If it wasn’t for medication and iv fluids I probably would have died.

Hi Nicola, just wanted to say thank you for this video and wishing you the best for the rest of your pregnancy and birth, I will be thinking of you. I don't have children myself but i am the oldest of a big family and your point about some of the negative and difficult aspects of pregnancy not being talked about is so true. It is still something that is quite stigmatised and that women are judged for complaining about (particularly those with infertility issues). IMHO it took some guts for you to make this video and i think it will only encourage more awareness and acceptance of these things for other women. You are contributing to a net positive, thank you

I’m certainly not an expert on Korean after care, but some other KZitemrs in Korea (Pani and Tae) used a resource where a lady came into their home to cook and clean. Pani is Japanese American and was really resistant to the idea, but Tae got her to speak to the people. It turned out that in their particular circumstances, the service was free and Pani and Tae could say what they did and didn’t want done. I recommend looking into it. You are so amazing for going through all of this to bring a child into the world. Thank you for sharing about the hardships!

Yes, that is a thing in Korea too. Usually an older woman comes and helps mothers cook and clean in those early weeks. It's still an option on the table but will also see if my mother is able to visit in January to help.

Thank you so much for this. I have been wondering how you’re doing and if you had already had your baby. So letting us know that you were at 33 weeks is good and helpful. Keep doing the good work and I really and truly hope all turns out well and you last at least up until 38 weeks. Everything is so much better for the baby that way. But then again when one looks at our little Yul, We all know that you and your lovely husband have beautiful babies. You will be in my thoughts until the term ends and this beautiful young lady gets to look at her mom her dad and her big brother. Sending blessings. (Trust me, there is not one parent in the world that would dare pass judgement on a messy living room by a woman who is 33 weeks into her pregnancy. Lol). 💕😘

Yay! 33 weeks! Your whole first journey introduced me to the realities of infertility and how common things like miscarriages are. It made me a lot more calm and prepared for my own pregnancy, which ended up being almost laughably easy. But your first whole series helped normalize the idea that sometimes things outside our control happen and it's normal that I went into the whole thing just calm and ready to face whatever happened. And also to never question why a couple isn't having kids.

Brought back memories from my own pregnancies and as my mom used to say “there are not two pregnancies that are the same” I hope this time round you’ll be able to create that bond. In fact I believe that even being tiring period at the same time is very rewarding. All the best for the final weeks!! Fighting! 👍🏼👍🏼

I also agree with your view in relation to the postpartum care centers. Also add the fact that the baby has to adjust yet again when it's time to go home. Babies might not be able to see well when they're newborn, but they still are very keen on their surroundings and the people that take care of them, so coming home after staying for weeks at the postpartum care center will definitely be a new adjustment period for them. Best of luck on your 2nd IVF pregnancy! You're very lucky to have 100% success rate using IVF, I know that's not always the case for a lot of women.

Girl!!!!! I totally get this!! I had terrible nausea all the way through all three of my pregnancies. It did feel isolating because unless you go through it, you totally don't understand how it affects you on so many levels. The emotional irritability, the tummy irritability, only being able to eat certain foods, being uncomfortable all the time but having to go on with normal life. Then there's aaaaaalll the other pregnancy symptoms. And don't get me started on that heartburn from h-e-double hockey sticks (h-e-l-l)!! My three boys are all teenagers now, but I remember vividly those days of being preggers. E-hugs to you, beautiful!!! From one momma to another who has been there: You are doing an amazing job. You're a great wife and momma. You look so beautiful. I'm so impressed with how you are being so strong, even on the days when you feel you are not. So glad everything is going well with baby. I am 28 weeks tomorrow and the first half of the second trimester was the worst for me so far as I still had lingering morning sickness and tiredness but those symptoms became much more unpredictable than in first trimester when I knew exactly what time of day I would feel worse. Then in 2nd trimester the hormones and uncontrollable crying hit me and then I also was really struggling with dizziness. So also been hoping 3rd trimester is the best for me. I guess every pregnancy is so different!

Thank you for sharing your story and life with us! I love your videos and find them very informational. I was wondering if your medical team is bilingual or if you have an interpreter? I know you have an understanding of the language but are not fluent so having major surgery even with Hugh there sounds stressful if there is any language barrier.
@MyKoreanHusband
2 жыл бұрын
Both my IVF doctor and OBGYN are completely fluent in English so always speak to me in English. Ultrasound technicians have some English too. Nurses have varying levels of English but usually speak in Korean to me which I understand enough as it's the same sort of phrases I hear a lot. Also Hugh is with me most of the time. I've noticed the hospital also offers translators for those that have limited Korean and English skills and need help in another language too. One situation where someone didn't have as much English lately was for signing the legal forms and organizing my room for my hospital stay later. But they had all the same info printed in English and medical terms are usually from English anyway so even when they are speaking to me and I may not understand completely, I am pretty aware of a lot of medical terms they are saying. And then on top of that, have the print outs in English and Hugh with me.

Pregnancy can really really suck. I feel like no one will get it until they’ve gone through it. I had my son summer of 2021 and I was throwing up until the day I went into labor. My HG pregnancy was so traumatizing that pregnancy has literally become a big fear of mine. I had iv fluids almost weekly and the severe vomiting toned down after 25 weeks but it was still really miserable.

"Morning" sickness was really really awful. It was all day and for most of my pregnancy. At first, I couldn't even keep down water. Ginger definitely did not work for me. My heartburn was also pretty horrible. And all the random pains! I was also sneezing a lot and that was worsening my back pain. I got like 8 hemorrhoids. My stomach turned almost completely black. The only good thing about pregnancy was that I got my baby from it. Besides that, the whole experience was terrible. Would not recommend.

Oh my GOD, the aversions to 'cures' is so true. Could not stand 'Preggy Pops' with my daughter because I just associated them with being sick. This go around I can't do saltines. They just remind me of 'sick' lol And just imagine having the flu and needing to justify your need for anti-nausea meds because thats my situation atm :/ If you haven't physically vomited, people act as if you've got such a mild case but if you've got anxiety around vomiting then you're literally just spending every ounce of your will NOT throwing up which is exhausting ughhhh
