Sure you do. You might need a kit for EVERYTHING. Geez Louise, think it through. This kit is wholly unnecessary and takes up too much space and money.

When you say you enlarfe one hole by 1/64" do you just mean a SINGLE hole on ONE half? So you're just enlarging one out of 4 holes?

Amaze! And am buying the kit. What recommendations for a curved scraper? 80% of my needs are for these. I am going to learn the standard method, but does anyone have any suggestions? Good work Taylor Toolworks.

Research that Accu-Burr burnisher. I think that's just what you're looking for. It's a different approach to turning a burr on those curved scrapers and it makes the job a lot easier.

I usually watch your video, then order right away. But things are piling up on me. This system looks amazing to me. I have the lapping film already, and the float glass. I'll make the rest. Oops! I need the burnisher! Okay, okay...I'll order it. Geeze...

Would a person go through this process every time to put a hook on the card or is this for initial set up and periodic truing ?

how far down do you file the edge? Are you trying to remove the old burr?

How do you get a burr on both sides with a normal round burnisher? Just tilt one way, then tilt the other?
@johnhupcey9442

I tried that, and I apparently can't get the angle correct because my two burrs do not cut cleanly at all (at least on my pine test piece).

Just took delivery of the kit. So nice to have everything in one box rather than sourcing the parts individually. I fabricated the scraper holder from African Sapele and tossed out the wing nuts in favor of two custom made brass thumbscrews that I turned on my machine lathe. I ran out of time tonight but will give it a go first thing in the morning. Can't wait!

Been wrestling with turning a burr on my scrapers for years. Watched a video of Vic Tesslyn (from Veritas) at a woodworker's club in Australia. He prepared and turned a burr in less than 1:00 with only a file and a hard rod. In his hand. No jig needed. Been doing it that way now for a couple of years. Not sure I really need all the stuff in this kit.

That's great! This kit isn't for everyone and there are plenty of people out there, like yourself, who already have a preferred method that works great for them. Thank you for sharing what works for you!

Vic Tesolin via LeeValleyTools kzitem.info/news/bejne/rHxrmHtqkXhqaaA if anyone is looking for that method. The burnish is the whole point, I don't think a few degrees off 90 are going to make much of a difference while scraping.

It’s not hard to get a scraper to make shavings. The question is how long does the edge last when you rush the process like this. And what kind of surface does it leave? This definitely isn’t up to Rob Cosman standards. Spending a few seconds on two grits after filing for a few seconds. Seems suspect.
