I have a new garlic vinegarette dressing thar may be good or what about a cold pasta salad/bean salad mixture? Otherwise, maybe it would be good in a casserole dish. I can't remember what the 3 beans are: green bean, kidney bean? and something else? I will brainstorm and if I come up with something I will do a video on it. I'm so glad all your canned potato recipes worked out. I now have a new appreciation for them I didn't have before. I hope you are doing well 🥰

Or use cumin dusted on the beans and add to mexican salad .How Jen does it has a reciepe I recommend to try, southwestern salad with cilantro lime grilled chicken and dressing recipe. The black beans she will rinse and add garlic powder and cumin to dust the beans and that make a really nice flavour! You can skip the chicken and make some wraps with this mixture for you girls, the taco lime chips we like to eat with our salad. Hope you can give ut a try and let me know what you think? thanks for mentioning about Bay Leaves and bugs. That's one thing we don't want at this house. WE had termites in the bedroom because when it rained, it rained through the bricks on the home. My spouse spent a couple of weeks fixing the issue, the rain and brick is what caused it . We are replacing bricks, and he will tuckpoint it and fix the issue. The inside of home in one bedroom took the drywall off and fixed it from the inside, it's a process, but it will get done. Sad part I told my spouse, anybody in my subdivision could end up with this and NOT even know they have the issue. I was deep cleaning the bedroom and started taking down the curtains to clean the windows and shades, and that's when I found the issue. So that's why I am very concerned when it comes to bugs and other insects, etc. plus, he has poison to put around the foundation of the ( outside ) entire home. I am sorry for the long conversation.

Hi Robin. I haven't come across anything that old. I try to rotate through products to avoid them being that old but it depends on what the product is. Foods with oils in them like nuts, crackers, etc will go bad but canned foods will last for years and years. As long as the cans are not dented or bloated they should be okay. Canned foods with high acid like pineapples or tomatoes won't last as long and will go rancid so I would try to stay within the expiration time line on those things.💕

That is a broad statement. What foods are you referring to? I haven't run into any spoiled food yet in my pantry but thanks for stopping by.

Pantry needs major renovation. Have a metal rack for all breakfast foods; coffee, jelly, oatmeal, grits, granola, pop tarts, etc. Next rack for all baking items - baking powder baking soda, cornstartch gravies, bread crumbs, mixes, etc. A third rack for potatoes, pastas, and rrice items. Two racks for condiments; mustard, mayo ketchup, bbq sauces, salad dressings, pickles, olives, etc. One rack for all kinds of soups, canned meats. Last rack for all canned veggies and fruits. Put all your long term items in closets hidden away. Use plastic tubs underneath your metal racks for cereals, salt etc.

Our pantry is just a snapshot of what we eat. We eat a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables as well as meat from our freezer. Although we eat some from our pantry, it's not all at once but it's comforting to know it's there if we had no choice. You can have a pantry filled with foods that are suitable for your needs and your family's needs. Salt is a preservative that keeps these products shelf stable for years. You can rinse off the canned meat and vegetables or add other ingredients to dilute some of the salt out of each serving.

Not all of us have the same access to resources. Some people live in small apartments in the city. We all do what we can. We live in South Texas where a small percentage of anything we plant survives the extreme climate. That is great that you have the means to do those things. I think as long as people are doing what they can to put something away, they are doing better than doing nothing at all.
