An absolute stunning view!! I just purchased my very first 5 tier black shelves like you have, yesterday. I hate that I am so late in the game. So far, I only have 3 cases of water lol and a couple cans and bags of beans. Next week, I'm getting another two more. I live in a townhouse and these will be stored in my large basement so it's always cool. You gave me some great ideas and hopefully I'll have some time to stock up before SHTF. Much love ❤

I would offer one little bit of advice: Stock up on your family's favorite HOLIDAY Comfort Foods. For example, I noticed you have boxes of stuffing and canned ham. Good. You have flour, so you can make pie dough. Good. I would make sure you have turkey meat (if that's what you do on holidays), I recommend you have pumpkin puree and spices for pumpkin pies... have plenty of dried apples and other fruits for other favorite pies and cobblers. Cans of cranberry sauce. Maybe stock plenty of sweet-potatoes and all the little side-dishes that go with your Holiday dinner-of-choice. My examples are primarily based on my own holiday favorites, namely Thanksgiving and Christmas, here in California. Now the thought is in your head... think on what your own family's favorite Holiday traditions are... and stock up. Also, do you have plenty of gravy for poutine? (Just thinking out loud.)

Fantastic pantry!!! I'm not quite at your level yet but getting there. I wish I didn't have rodent issues. Your shelves are much easier to analyze than mine. I have all of my pasta and boxes and bags in clear totes. It still works, just not as easy to shop it.

I tried the totes too and found it was hard to keep track of how much product I had and what needed to be re-stocked so I ended up putting it back on the shelves. This is a mighty fine pantry I must say, very well organized; Canadian, eh? Been prepping for a decade now but survivalism is in my blood so let me offer some advice. What strikes me as odd about your pantry is the amount of condiments and other non-foods you have; things that are not a meal on their own. What you want as a prepper, a quick and easy but filling meal and hopefully cheap.... and MRE on steroids. Speaking of which, I noticed the Campbell's P(r)epper Steak and Potatoes; delicious and quite filling. Also things that can be grown, should be grown; rather than bought. Most of my condiments are either home made or are sample sizes. Things that you grow yourself will be much better than anything you buy in a store and then you can can; like canned tomatoes. If you grow tomatoes, than you can make all sorts of sauces, ketchups, pastes, salsa, et cetera. I am a Northerner too and Northern Climates usually have cold-hardened people and thus, already pre-disposed to prepping. Just think of all the preps us Canadian have to do for winter... well, those of us North of Toronto that is. Firewood, shovels, snowblower, sleighs, snowmen, snow forts, snowball fights, snowmobiles, skis... ok so, it's not all that bad.

You better stock up on some hypertension medications that’s a lot of processed, low nutrition food. I did the same thing. I regretted it after living off nothing but our preps for four months. My blood pressure went up shockingly high from normal levels, I gained weight despite eating less, and had no energy. I changed it up to healthier options, canned my own vegetables and fruit. On the Mac and cheese hamburger helper cornmeal especially dried potatoes. These will expire before too long. I bought a seal a meal. Took the items out of their box sealed them and then put the bag into the box. Noodles in a box will expire. I shut off the seal a meal as soon as I hear a noodle pop and seal it with a 02 sensor in the bag. Now it’s long term. I take my new bags of flour and sugar I Do Not use 02 sensor but I put the new bag into a gallon sealer bag and seal it. When I need a new bag and cut it open it’s just like I just bought it off the shelf. Works great

@@northernprepper1173 if you ever get a chance to run by a construction site when they're painting, ask them if you can grab some of the empty paint buckets. I don't know if this is universal, but around here (L.A., CA, USA), the construction/painters buy LARGE buckets of paint... and in order to hold the weight, the buckets are METAL. They're metal... AND they're the same size as standard 5-Gallon buckets and the lids are compatible. I mention this because I've heard that rodents do actually chew through plastic to get to the contents of peoples' food supplies... including heavy plastic buckets. I'm certain a metal bucket would defy any rodent's efforts to chew through it. Most modern paints are water-based (or, as one ad puts it, basically heavy water-colors), it is easy to clean out an empty paint bucket, then sanitize it for other storage uses. If your rice, wheat, flour, sugar, etc. is stored in mylar bags... or even ziploc bags... oh to heck with it... paper bags!... the foods aren't touching the sides of the bucket, anyway. So, not a problem. IF you can get the timing right and get your hands on some of these construction site empty paint buckets, you can get those threaded lid tops and have secure METAL food storage. Sorry, rodents.

I found the same thing but what I do is put the hard cheese powder in a thick zip lock bag and the roll/pound it with a rolling pin to break it back up into powder. Also I bought a big bag of cheese powder from Bulk Barn to have in a jar as backup.

2 people and 2 dogs and we could make this last for about a year but I would like more just to be safe, plus more dog food and water.

In North Texas, we don’t see roaches. Mostly spiders here. We’ve never had mice in our house but this summer we had rats in our garden!!! We wondered why all of a sudden the neighborhood cats showed up! Mostly I repackage dry goods in gallon glass jars with oxygen absorbers. The concern is insect eggs in the flour/sugar that may hatch and ruin the goods.

Congratulations...on your preps. However it's time to stop showing the world what everyone has..Theirs evil in the world...and lazy ass people that didn't prepare and unfortunately thieves that are going to be looking for a free ride!!! Be safe ,smart ,and ready! May The Most High be with you all.

May I ask, how do you manage the rotation regarding expiration dates? I just finished some soup that expired in 2019, nothing wrong with it. Also finishing a sack of rice that expired in 2017. Sooner or later I'm going to have to rotate some stuff out. The local food banks won't take expired goods though. Just toss it and replace? Thanks, best wishes.

I marked the dates on everything with a felt marker so I can see them canned foods will last 8 years beyond their best by dates I found by trial and error rice never expires so just make sure you're eating your food so you don't have to throw any of it out

Friends and family will be the first to come, of course it's good to share, but some may not be so nice. Then gangs even in the countryside should all law and order break down. Human nature when you have no restraints and are hungry will prevail.

I debated that for years but I realized that if I can help people wake up and give them some incentive to start prepping before it's too late it would be worth it. I have a prepping community around me of former military guys and gals and we all have each others back as far as security is concerned so I'm not worried. Just wanted people to get motivated before the world plunges into full blown SHTF.

I live in an earthquake zone and some of my preps are in Mason jars. After preparing I return them to their original cardboard box and place thin foam cushioning between the glass. I secure shelves to wall studs and place strong cotton around the lower portion of each shelf to prevent boxes from slipping. Lightweight paper products are placed between shelves for cushioning, should the shelving drop. There are no guarantees against acts of nature but this reduces the chances of damage.
