I'm only 3 minutes in. I've watched several pre-release videos and I didn't even think about how Incubate is at instant speed. Already bringing unique information right at the start.
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@raysun1209 Yep. I am egger to play a counter target spell control blue deck where I do almost everything at instant speed on my OP's turn. I think incubator tokens don't even need to be transformed to effect the board state. That's the amazing part about them. You don't have to invest mana into them becoming a creature until you're ready. I think just having a bunch of incubator tokens lying around not transformed is going to impact the board and whether your op decides to swing in. Even if they aren't transformed yet, as long as you hold open the mana for the threat of incubate activation it'll do the job. Plus not transformed they are very protected from board wipes and most removal. As long as I can use counter magic, flash in a creature, do some instant speed removal, or cast a draw more cards spells when I don't use my hold open mana to transform I feel like I'll still be extremely mana efficient and win out. Just think, You only need 6 mana on the board to instant speed flip 6 incubator tokens. Flip 3 on their end step, flip the other 3 at your upkeep. They don't have summoning sickness. Swing in and win. OP would have to have a great board state or instant speed removal for 6 different creatures to reasonably deal with this kind of threat, and if you've been countering their spells all game long and controlling the board I doubt they will have that wide of a board for a big creature rush. Plus board wipes are all sorcery speed so all six of these instant speed creatures dance around board wipes too... Sounds fun to me. Thanks for your support.

I hadn’t considered how powerful incubate could be until you explained it in this video ! it’s totally shifted how I’ll approach my prerelease event in a couple hours. thank you !
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@behairy1 It can be very strong at helping you flood the board state, dodge board wipes, and help you maximize your mana efficiency starting after turn 4 and later (it's value is a bit delayed but most of the time this is okay in the set). The mechanic overall has a lot of good things it brings to any deck. The more instant speed spells you have in your deck the better they get. Holding open the option to fire off a control or draw card spell or make a creature during your op's turn makes you in control of the pace of the game at so many levels. Also great with any and all 1/1 counter and/or phyrexian synergies. Many of the top players at my prerelease last night were either dropping mythic bomb rare after mythic bomb rare after mythic bomb rare, or going for value uber control utilizing incubate in conjunction with either +1+1 counter synergies, knights, or phyrexian synergies (banking on going wider than your bomb rares). Fun creature bomb heavy set. I hope you open some great rares and mythics!

The analysis I’ve been looking for the past few days to get ready for pre-release. I enjoyed you diving a bit deeper into the individual colours rather than just the archetype colour pairs. Made me have a few other perspectives which I didn’t have before (lots of haste in red). Lots of editing with all the cards went into this and that effort didn’t go unnoticed. A new sub from me. Keep up the great work!
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@tg781 Thank you. I pride myself in always doing all of my own analysis. I purposefully do not read or listen to other's thoughts on a set until after I have done my own full analysis. This allows me to focus on the things I see as I see them, and not just become an echo chamber of the info that everyone else is focusing on. The more I dived into this set the more I realized just how flexible the card synergies are. There is a little bit of everything in almost all colors. They stayed true to the history of each color providing support for any Multiverse Legends cards that are included. So focusing only on the archetypes will be much less important in this set than in most sets. The Knights is probably the least flexible archetype that will force you into two very specific colors, but the flexibility of the rest of the mechanics synergizing across all colors is really good. You can run a convoke red white deck instead of red blue. You can run a spells blue white, blue black, and not just red blue spells. You can do a phyrexian matters deck in nearly any color even though black has the most payouts and opportunities if it is the core base. The color you pair it with doesn't matter too much. Incubate synergies are everywhere. +1+1 counter synergies are everywhere. So instead of focusing on archetypes it is much more important in this set to focus on a mechanic or abilities synergizing with your bomb rares and mythic pulls. Knowing the individual color strengths will allow you to mix and match better... that's why I focused on those. example: If I have Sheoldred and she cares about creatures in the grave, I could lean towards dimir blue and black, or I could lean into red black sacrifice, or I could lean into green and black self mill reanimate, or I could go for white and black board wipe grave synergies with the right cards. Obviously, white has lower odds of being the color pair because it involves rares from white to have synergies, but with the right pulls it isn't out of the question. The color or colors I choose to pair a black Sheoldred deck with would depend on my other rare or mythic pulls and less on me saying oh well, blue and black is supposed to be the mill deck so I guess I'm just going to force that. This set is way too flexible across its colors to lock into basic archetypes. Focus on the mechanics and synergies snowballing across your rares and you're color pairings will build themselves.

@andrewpark7525 Thanks. I do all my own set analysis and purposefully do not listen, read or watch anyone else's opinions on sets until after I've made my video to ensure my content is always true to how I see the set, original, and uninfluenced by the echo chamber that is mtg info found online. I don't see any point in saying the exact same info you can find in 100 different places that's obvious. My prerelease guides will always give you some unique views on each set (because I go out of my way to not hear what others are saying), and I always keep them under 25 minutes long so they don't take all day for you to watch. I always try and condense everything down to the bare essentials you'll need to know to build and play with a set as a whole and nothing more. I feel like I do a pretty great job of that. The reason I talked about the multiverse legend cards first was because it was the number one most important thing you needed to know about the set, unfortunately... 😂 At my prerelease last night I was playing an Invasion of New Phyrexia +incubate deck, and I got blown up by the MUL Old school, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite. It felt as bad as I thought it would, there was literally nothing I could have done about it either. I had no counter target spell magic in my whole card pool, and 2/2 knights are very very bad against that card. Otherwise, I had a very successful night. 3-1. I find it funny that I called her out as a bomb that if landed by your OP I don't think you do win against that, and it was the exact card I got wrecked by. Thanks again for the support and kind words.

@andrewpark7525 Keep your head up. Going 2-1 in this set for sealed feels like a win to me especially if you didn't pull that many bomb mythics or rares that were playable. Sounds like you make a great deck out of nothing and that's a tough thing to do. Sounds like you and I had very similar bad card pool luck. I didn't say it above but every single one of my MUL cards were uncommons. No rares or Mythics here. My heart sank when I saw that and I just knew there was no way the final power level of my deck could be anywhere close to the strongest pools' decks. But I got creative aka aggro, and slammed a lot of 2 drops in my deck and hoped for the best. I was proud of my 3-1 finish. It was better than I expected in such a bomb heavy format. Sounds like you should be very proud of your 2-1 finish. You clearly maximized what you had. I would have loved to have a companion card, but no MUL rares means no companions. Thanks for the sub and support. I plan on maybe doing a prerelease guide for the Lord of the Rings set next even though it isn't a standard set, and of course I'll have a few draft and sealed videos using Arena for the current MOM set as well.

@GarzaL91 Thanks! I appreciate the kind words. Good luck in day 2 of the open! I take a lot of pride in my set analysis. I did all of this analysis by myself in less than one day. I don't get early access to card images, or any help at all, so the day the spoilers release publicly is the same day I see what the new set is. This time crunch means that my analysis is under a severe time crunch. I usually only have 24 hours or less to analyze and 24-36 hours to build and edit my video to get it out early enough for others to use the week before their prerelease events in store. A full week before anyone gets to play with the cards at all! I feel very lucky that I'm one of those people that can read a set of cards on a computer screen and in my mind "see" the cards play out. No playing with the actual cards needed for me to get a good read of a set. I'm always proud that even months into a format's release my analysis of any given set, without ever actually playing with the cards, is able to stay relevant and accurate through time. I hope you do well today! best of luck 🍻🏆

@zachlee9524 Good luck! This set can be hard. Sometimes it feels like everyone has a good deck. Yours just needs to have the right draws plus be great. No pressure. 🔥🍻 I haven't been playing on Arena too much. I've been mostly on tabletop so far, but I've noticed the 8-10 person pods I draft in (no cross pod play) that there appears to be way fewer outright winning decks. The win/ loss matches have much more variance than normal. A deck that appears to be completely dominant in round 1 with an easy BO3 2-0 win will often times go 0-2 the next match and lose handily and all of a sudden can look extremely weak. It's the same deck. No major side boarding, just different start hands. I think that start hand draw is just so so so very important in this set. Which means that dig and draw filtering is also extra important. Good luck in the Arena Open. I hope you draw all your bomb mythics and rares on curve, and always have the right removal in hand for an immediate response to your OPs plays. 🍻

@keganbancroft3617 Have fun! I can't vouch for everyone's prerelease places, but the place I go has a convention-like party atmosphere, tons of new people to get to know, very social, very casual, and I love it. Be mindful of your build time and know it's okay for your deck build to not be perfect after the first build phase. You can always sideboard in any card you opened in your pool after game one, and make changes in the middle of the first round. And of course, if you still don't like your deck build after round 1 and before round 2 you usually have a good chunk of time then that you can use to completely reconfigure your deck. I'll usually build several different decks throughout the night at my prereleases for added fun while waiting for the next rounds to start. Lastly, if you're ever in doubt of the rules on a card, or how it plays, or how another card would interact with it ask for a judge. The earlier the better! I've used our local judge many times during the build phase. Yep, that's right I use judges most frequently during the build phase time, before a card even goes in my deck. It's better to be 100% sure you know how a card works perfectly before a game than after you're already in one to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

Also, I'm sure you aren't giving yourself enough credit. Really nice job! I'm pretty new to sealed, I really appreciated you pointing out that Incubate is instant speed!
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yep, instant speed decks revolving around flash creatures get even better the more spells you have at instant speed in the build. Blue instant speed draw cards spells and blue's counter spells will be great to pair with incubate tokens so depending on what your opponent does during their turn, if you decide not to transform the creatures, you can still use your mana efficiently during your opponent's turn and gain value through getting more cards or something like that. and/or holding open a counter target spell card will be much better in this set than normal if you have an incubator token on the board. This way if your opponent didn't cast a spell to counter you can always use your mana efficiently by transforming a creature instead of countering a spell. This will make sure you have a productive turn that is able to react to your opponent's plays optimally. They included tons of instant speed spells in all colors, so this will be fun!

@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@wesleycox665 Thank you for the kind words. Yah, the battles were tricky cards to deal with graphically. I was able to turn them sideways on the battle exclusive video I made where I go into detail about what battles are worth and how to evaluate them. For this video I was stuck between all bad choices. The problem is each battle flipped sideways takes up an entire screen for 1 card so it messes up my time splits to be able maximize the amount of relevant cards I can show while talking about each topic. So my bad choices were: 1) don't show battles at all because they don't fit on the screen with the other cards and take up too much screen time for a single card. This would cause me to have to show fewer cards in the whole video to fit battle only screen times in between other cards. 2) I could have only show the back side of the battles but that didn't seem relevant or good. 3) Just show fewer cards from the set and turn the battles into full page cards. This was okay in theory, but as I started doing that I realized I'd be having to cut out some more important cards with more important abilities just to squeeze in 1 battle card. So that's not great. 4) I could show the front side of the battles rotated sideways. I can also follow it by showing the back side flipped. This way battles and other cards still fit screen template and I don't lose other card screen time. I tried option 3 first but then had to move into option 4, but it was a tough call. I hope they never make sideways printed cards again. They were a nightmare to edit into any video content! Thanks for the support. 🍻

@zorguuu Thanks. I will have fun at the prerelease! As long as all my rares aren't battles, and all my multiverse legends aren't uncommons. If that happensI can safely say I will not have fun. I'd actually be very sad. I'm known to have horrible pack opening luck. In Brother's War alone at FNM I was known as having the land touch. There were multiple times I'd open double pain land rares foil and non-foil of the exact same pain land and to make things worse the packs would normally have an unplayable uncommon retro artifact. It was sad to the point of comical. By the end of the set the table would casually start laughing one by one when yet another pain land hit them as a potential pick, and they could count back and realized I had opened yet another pain land. So let's hope I can turn my luck around here, and open some fun Multiverse Legend cards to build around, and not too many battle rares.

@chadbryson6817 First prerelease! That's exciting. In addition to studying up the cards in the set I highly recommend being aware of your deck build times. Depending on your prerelease event sometimes you only get ~45 minutes to open and build so being fast at sorting out cards and opening packs can be a helpful skill. Don't expect to be great at this the first time. You'll probably be slower than most. Know that's okay. Don't panic if you're taking longer to build than others around you. Remember that you can always adjust your build as a sideboard move after any game (in the middle of a round), and that after your match in round 1/ 2 /or 3 are over, while waiting for the next round to start you can usually find a place off to the side and use that time to reconfigure and rebuild your deck if you need to. For fun I usually end up making several different decks throughout the night with my sealed pool. So if you don't like how your deck is playing feel free to try different things out. Prerelease is a fun and casual atmosphere so it's more about the social fun and experimenting around with the new cards than anything else.

@nelsonmarques6732 I've heard a lot of people say they want to sit this set out, so that feeling is real and valid. I think there are a lot of things going on in this set that have people feeling overwhelmed, anxious or unsure. But when you strip away a lot of the craziness it's still very much mtg and it has basic fundamentals for each color found throughout mtg's history at its core. For me the scariest thing you'll find in this set is just how powerful some of the more basic combos can be! It's very powerful. I was talking with a friend of mine about the set. In particular about back-up and incubate mechanics. I told them that the combos here are unreal! The mana cost compared to what you can get can be insane in this set and that's terrifying. Could you imagine WotC printing a creature card that said { (4)(W): flash; etb gain 5 life, draw a card; make a 5/5 creature } it would be a mythic card or not printed at all because it would be too powerful. But here we are with a common and uncommon level combo using Scrollshif and Tangled Skyline that does exactly that! This doesn't even count the first etb of Skyline that already made a 5/5 and gained 5 more life for 7 mana total. The grand total of this combo spread over two turns so it's easier to pay its casting cost is= pay 12 mana gain 10 life make 2 5/5s draw a card. Both of these caluculations add in the pay 2 to incubate added cost for both 5/5s. Point is very high powered set. Back-up mono red as well. 3 mana 4/3 Karsus Depthguard (common), next turn make that creature into a 5/4 first strike plus get a 2/3 first strike creature Redcap Heelslasher (common). The next turn make it into a 6/5 double strike plus make a 3/2 doble strike creature Fearless Skald (uncommon)... gg oh and that doesn't even account for a turn 2 play of a Trailblazing Historian (common) that can give all those side creature haste on the turn they are cast for free... or a one mana Mirran Banesplitter (common) +2+0 flash trick that is a permanent buff. Those battles flipping value will have nearly no impacts on the games with so much value everywhere else in this set to be found. The common and uncommon value combos are absolutely OP. This is going to be a very very powerful set where common and uncommon cards combine to do things better than most mythic printed cards, and instant speed everything will be king. I just have an image in my mind of me having 6 incubate tokens sitting on my board not transformed late game. I get to 6 mana. I pass my turn. My op doesn't attack in because I could transform at any time so attacking doesn't make sense for them. They complete their turn. On their end step I transform 3 of my 6 tokens for 6 mana. My upkeep, I untap my 6 lands, I pay 6 more and transform the next 3 tokens. Therefore I have just made 6 good creatures in total at instant speed, no summoning sickness, attacking in for the win. It's a dream. Doubt it will happen, but it's a dream. Good luck out there at prerelease! We will all need it. I hope you draw well, curve out perfectly, and are able to use all of your mana as efficiently as possible.

@antroz9181 I'm watching others play some early access right now (Nummy and Chord_O_Calls) and incubate is looking pretty great. Lots of spend 5 mana gain 5 life, make a 5/5 incubator token... upkeep transform for two swing in with a 5/5 and cast a 3 or 4 drop spell... Looking good. I'm seeing more incubate impact games than battles or back-up so it is the dominant ability for sure. Convoke is still a joke just like every other set that has included it. 😂 As said in the very beginning of this video, "This will be a creature bomb heavy set. Make sure you have a plan for that." - looks like no wiser advice could have been given. That's why I said it first. 🍻

Won my prerelease event, I saw your video before going... didnt plant a single incubator. I really was very lucky hitting very good azorious cards, including the old elesh norn and teferi's battle
@mtgmonster8755

@eduardoagusti4528 Nice! I also played with teferi's battle as well. I was very sad because all of my MUL cards were uncommons no rares or mythics, but did manage to put together a great little aggro knight incubator control azorious deck that was stellar. Blue bounce, tap down was very strong. Basically won with a bunch of 2 drops and hoped they couldn't catch up. I lost to a MUL Elesh Norn I had no counter target spell magic in my pool, so no way around it, so my knights were a very bad match up there, but otherwise it went well 3-1 on the night. I'm okay losing to a bomb like that. My incubator tokens were clutch though!!! I won many games with them and they definitely helped me go wider than my op to swarm/ aggro them. Congrats on your win!

Really good video! Normally people just talk about standard stuff like archetypes and overall feel and just generic stuff you can understand on your own but how you explained everything and stated the reasons was just brilliant. You didn't just say "Yeah the sorcery speed removal is worse in this set" but actually gave the reasons for it that I couldn't have found on my own. @butttaco2 Thanks for the support and sub! Pace and flow are a major focus of my set reviews. I will always keep them under 25 minutes long because anything longer than that and a set guide becomes a bad lecture that won't end. Seriously, you could read all the cards on your own faster than most channels do their reviews! So my goal is to be the great "cliff notes" of mtg. It's easy to say everything. It's hard to say as little as possible but still provide quality. I'm sorry you had to pause to read some cards. I don't think you're alone in having to do that. I do want to explain why I put images of the cards on the screen so quickly. I use psychological tricks and short cuts to shorten my video length. The brain can easily look at an image and process spoken words over an image and it will naturally will connect the two and group the two things together. It's one of the strong suits of our brain. So if I say red is very fast with a lot of haste and I quickly show 6-8 cards that either have haste or go well with a haste deck your brain will remember that grouping of cards and the key word association of haste for them much better than if I went through each card individually and said, this has haste, and this has haste, and this one too. This grouping trick also makes it easier for you to remember and recall later on. This is the trick I use so I don't have to talk about every single card in the set individually. This works best when the viewer(you) knows everything about the image they are seeing, but it can work without that too. And yep you guessed it, this is why you needed to pause. Your brain needed to study the image a bit longer because it was unfamiliar with it so it could do it's thing and connect it to my words to it. The point is, I'm sorry you had to pause to read some cards. That is an unfortunate side effect of this method and I'd rather the occasional necessity to pause for a few viewers than to make the video over an hour long. Thanks for the support!

After 2 very successful runs in the events on mtgo, I can appreciate what you did in this video much more now!! @race2vegas Glad you had fun. That's all that really matters. The more you play the fewer mistakes you'll make. I wouldn't worry about it too much. I made one mistake during my game 1 at my prerelease. I used my removal too early in the game against a good uncommon creature to push more damage early since I was playing an aggressive deck strategy. I thought this would be right, because in the last set aggressive removal was always a good move. lol I had to reset my mind back to normal removal rules. You really do want to hold on to your removal, and make sure it finds the perfect target because there will be a very good mythic or rare creature landed against you'll need it for. Lesson learned loud and clear game 1. Luckily it didn't cost me. I adjusted my playstyle and won game 2 and 3 to win round 1.

The multiverse legend cards are applicable for standard constructed decks too and not restricted just to limited, correct?
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@ananthakrishnankrishnan7287 Multiverse legend cards are not legal in standard, just included for limited play and extra fun when collecting cards. Just like the Retro Artifacts in Brother's War these aren't standard legal but you can use them in draft and sealed. I am unsure if you could use a reprint in Multiverse Legends that is already Standard legal in tabletop play... The instance I'm thinking of is Raff. Raff is a reprint from Dominaria United. Raff is currently Standard legal. I am unsure if his reprint is also legal. I imagine it would be but I'd double check that... Most of the cards though I know are not legal in Standard but many are pioneer legal. Check scryfall or mtggoldfish for legality checkboxes on individual cards when in doubt.

Sunfall busted card 🐣🐥🐤
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@andresperez7476 lol so I've heard! Pointed it out here in this video as a bomb of a rare, but I have yet to open one in a draft. Nor has an opponent successfully resolved a Sunfall against me, so I have not been able to experience this awesome board wipe yet. Are we sure Sunfall is in the draft packs of this set? lol 😂🍻 j/k it is definitely in the set. I guess I'm lucky it hasn't gotten me yet, and unlucky not to open one yet... In general, board wipes that leave something behind for you are always great. The leaving a token behind takes away the primary problem of board wipes, being that if you play a board wipe spell it normally it puts you back to being behind on the board state since your op usually has high odds to get to resolve a creature before you do on their next upkeep. Most board wipes are a reset, but you're probably still going to be in damage control mode after. Getting the token after the wipe basically flips it so it is possible for you to be in control of the board and smashing in as early as your very next turn. Sounds nice. Must be nice to resolve it in limited. Lucky people who get to play with Sunfall. Must feel great. Although Sunfall hasn't gotten me yet, I have lost to my fair share of out of control Seedsharks, Boonbringers, Etalis, or Glissas more times than I care for. The rares in this set are very strong.
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@andresperez7476 I encountered my first Sunfall in my store championship final game last night! I still won the Bo3 match against the sunfall deck, and I won the store championship. But my op did cast sunfall in 2 out of the 3 games in the finals. FYI They also had a Ragavan turn 1 in all 3 games and that was more difficult to deal with than the sunfall. But because I was able to win a game post sunfall I feel like it wasn't a completely busted card. Good but beatable especially once it was known they had it and I could play around it a bit better. However, my deck felt a little more busted than sunfall. I was running a turn 4 Ancient Imperiosaur convoked x3 deck to make it a 12/12 trample ward(2) followed by a turn 5 Fearless Skald back-up doublestrike targeting my Imperiosaur to make it a 13/13 double-strike, trample and attacking in on turn 5. Especially on the play this was unbeatably busted! I had 3 different ways in my deck to give double strike to my creatures and 3 ways to have big trample creatures on the board. Seemed good, trample + double strike is pretty nice against grindier decks that like to buy time by chumping. Takes that away.

@gerardocaballero1558 Going in and out of mtg is very common. You'll do great at your prerelease I'm sure. This set favors older set style players in strange ways. I think the flexibility of each color is not normally found in the last few sets. They have been pretty rigid archetypes that players pretty much could follow them blindly and do okay. This set if you blindly follow one specific archetype you may fall behind to someone that can do more flexible synergies that overlap with bomb mythics. Especially because half of the bombs don't follow a strict archetype in the set, but have plenty of support in their colors if you know how to look for it and play those cards well. Good luck and have fun!

Do you have a video where you use something like Draft Sim or something to go through the thought process when picking a card? Either for Sealed or Draft? I've been looking around for some content like this
@mtgmonster8755

@shaine7777777 Not yet. I'll do some drafting and sealed once the set releases on the channel. If you want to watch some people play with these cards before tomorrow I recommend Chord_O_Calls on Twitch and/or Nummy for youtube/ Twitch. There a few other entertaining players to watch, but between those two you should see some good variety of gameplay from the Arena Early Access. Nummy is a bit more focused on being entertaining but he's still a solid player. Chord_O_Calls is a bit more calculated in his video style but relays good info.

Good work, but one thing I would say is that when you’re using rares and mythics as your primary examples for a lot of interactions it isn’t that helpful because most rares and mythics simply aren’t seen in most drafts.
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@sl3848 Thank you. True draft doesn't usually see so many rares, but in sealed/ prerelease you are more likely to see more rares and mythics than in draft. I also don't think I ever just showed rares or mythics as solo examples of anything. I know I'm careful to show a full spectrum of rarity examples when they apply. So, I'm trying to think which section of the video did you not feel like I showed commons? Even for incubate the focus was on scrollshift (common), not necessarily Chrome Host Seedshark (rare). The shark was just an added bonus to point out that scrollshift has some great synergies with rares too, not just the common and uncommon level enchantments and creatures. Multiverse Legend cards are guaranteed to be be uncommon-mythic so no commons there to show. Plus, the Multiverse Legends rarities function independently from the rare you are guaranteed in every pack so it is very likely for you to pull double rares for this set, and even very possible to open a triple rare pack. They'll be around a bit more than usual and because they are all creatures I think the power upgrade with be more noticeable than usual as well. Good luck with the set and thanks for the support.

Which strategy in your opinion is the best?
@mtgmonster8755
Жыл бұрын
@ElderDan Well that's a question lol. hmmm 🤔 how to best answer this without leading you accidently astray? I'm going to be careful here, because the best strategy is to build the best synergizing deck with the cards you open. Most of the time this will lean into building around the bomb rares and mythics you open, and with the MUL cards in every pack some of those creatures are win cons in and of themselves worth building around every time. (Imagine if in BRO war all the retro artifacts were just Platinum Angels, Wormcoil Engines, and Precursor Golems?)... That's how this add on bonus MUL card set will feel. Adding a guaranteed good-to-bomb level creature in every pack is so format changing. So that's a strategy. Ok, besides that. I will say I believe a great low to the ground, aggressive, perfect curve out Boros (red/white) beat down deck with a bit of removal to support it is going to be difficult to beat. It has access to so many cross synergies that are all designed to push damage through with mechanics like back-up, haste, equipment, and burn/control spells to support it. The two colors look very aggressive in all the right ways with great MUL cards you could open to compliment it as well! (Honorable mentions to Azorius UW and Selesnya GW) Personally, I am not someone that plays only 2 colors very often. I vastly prefer 3 colored decks... I know I'm one of those people. I'm excited about the cross synergies found in some Naya builds in this set. It has a great array of early game creatures that can snowball into huge threats or build value throughout the entire game utilizing haste, back-up, incubate, and all sorts of cross +1+1 counter synergies to go big, fast. These colors come with some serious evasion/ abilities like trample, first strike, double-strike, menace, lifelink and/or flying. A mid-range aggro beat down build that can capitalize in all the right ways with +1+1 counter synergies while providing all the control/ burn you could need. Plus, have a constant threat of hasty win cons sounds incredibly fun. I like the haste and etb bonuses these three colors mixing together can make more than just a Boros or Selesnya deck could do alone. I'm also excited about Azorius control and value decks that can be built in this set, leaning into the three color pairings: Esper, Jeskai, and Bant. Any of those three color combos look like a lot of fun. Even Jund looks like it has some fun build arounds! This set is very flexible in its builds so that's going to be great for someone like me who loves mixing and matching across many colors. In a nut shell you could say I am leaning heavily in favor of a deck that includes white at some level. I think white has a lot to offer any build that incorporates it, and it looks like a safe and versatile color to include in your builds. But, if I have the right cards for Sultai, I'm going Sultai control, grind, value, reanimate. Stay open minded and you'll find the best build in your card pool.
