1-500 μS internal latency. External latency: Windows 5ms, Mac 4ms, Linux 2.7ms USB 3.0 may have higher bandwidth but it has higher latency. For anyone wondering about their decision on that. It makes sense.

Finally bought one, some equipment has been rare to find as anything and this is one of them, when you see them at a good price, you have to jump on it. Has everything input and output wise I need for my ‘box room studio’ in a form factor that’s hard to beat. UAD Apollo’s seem cool but there’s just not enough physical options with it. Which I find odd. To be honest I guess it really does come down to your individual needs, as a solo artist this ones the best for me.

This actually looks like a really useful bit of kit. Not bad for a first attempt from Arturia. I might actually get rid of my Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and go to something like this because I hardly ever use the full potential of the Saffire. And if I ever want to record a full kit or something, I can just use an ADAT box and cable into this guy.

Been long awaiting a Sonicstate review of the Audiofuse. After doing loads and loads of research on the best interface for a laptop/desktop OR mobile setup this thing came out on top. Obviously there are more expensive interfaces that will fit the needs of a more niche specific setup. In terms of overall functionality + features this unit covers a wide range of requirements for musicians. Great clean discrete AD/DA convertors with 24bit sampling at 192 kHz, 2 Line Inputs, 2 Mic/'Combi' inputs w/ 48v phantom power, 2 RCA phono inputs, clock, MIDI & ADAT in + out, and a 20-20,00Hz frequency response at 0.55dB. There are 2 separate sets of outputs for mixing on a monitor channel and on a master channel (for A/B ing mixes etc). They didn't mention in this video but in also has a talkback mic built-in and support for PowerBanks so it can run in a mobile environment with just the interface, your device and a usb powerbank. It has no problem running on iOS. In fact, Arturia ships this unit with a Y-cable with USB + USB mini into USB for this exact purpose. . . I'd say the price range is fitting for the features as you likely wouldn't be buying an interface for quite a while, perhaps 5- 10 years. That said, I would like to see it drop to around $450. But while it's $599 start saving those pennies. If you're hesitant, I'd recommend the Audient iD-14 at $260-299 which uses the same A/D convertors found in their mixing boards and provides 75% of what your getting with the Audiofuse. It came in 2nd when researching interfaces. I do suggest checking out the videos on Arturia's devolpment process for the Audiofuse. They are quite compelling and it's a great company with great gear.

I own the AudioFuse. Just FYI, the sound quality of the built-in TalkBack Microphone is horrendous... borderline unusable. It's probably around 60% background hiss/static and 40% actual signal or your voice coming through. There are some other KZitem videos that demonstrate this. That being said, I doubt that very few will make use of that feature on this type of interface. And you'll want to have and use that USB PowerBank when ''on location'' or in the field. The functionality and higher end specs of the AudioFuse are limited if you just use USB Power via the included ''Y'' Cable. You'll need to connect the USB Powerbank to the actual DC Input power jack with the appropriate adapter plug to gain full functionality and the 24dB headroom (instead of 18dB with USB power). Arturia even suggests not to use the Mic Preamps and/or 48V Phantom Power unless you connect the AC Wall Power Adapter. And especially for field or portable use, I'm not too keen on the main interface connection being a somewhat delicate and flimsy micro-USB connection. It's a thick/heavy USB cable with a small, delicate connector at one end. I would've much rather this be at least USB Type-C, which wouldn't take up much more space on the back panel. The AudioFuse sounds fantastic, but read as many real-world reviews as you can and do your research before buying.

Yep, agreed. However, all talkbalk mics are horrendous. I mean they are are used for what ...maybe 5 second bursts of audio communication between people w/ headphones on and people in front of high-end studio monitors. So the audio quality of a talkbalk mic was never really it's strong suit or selling point. " Yeah, we recorded at _____ Studios ! ... really great talkbalk mics. " Said no one. Ever.

The micro-USB connection isn't the best connection for the break-out cable, no, but Arturia wanted to pack as many everyday I/O's into it as possible. (though it should have been type-B like Heathcliff said ) The cables you're going to be plugging and unplugging the most have solid connections, so I'm no too worried about it. Connect a male micro-USB to female type-A USB adapter if you're concerned about the wear and tear over time. I think ALL break-out cables are are a pretty bad idea as they require you to use something that is often 'brand specific' and renders the unit useless if the cable breaks. At least, Arturia had the sense to use the most universal kind of connection (some might say it's a 'universal serial bus' ) and not some weird 17-pin cable that only Arturia makes and you have to re-order from them for $89.95. Like many other companies that will remain nameless, Sony.

+> > - Maybe no one talks about it, but a shitty talkback/headphone monitoring system in a ''real studio'' can make or break the session, and/or your inspiration, spontaneity, and the resulting performance. Good input from a clear, intelligible talkback system can save ''the'' take. A shitty talkback system *might* prohibit you from ever capturing ''the'' take. Just sayin'.

I own the AudioFuse and the Tiny form factor is really a Love/Hate thing for me. I LOVE that there is an actual Button or Knob on the front panel for nearly every function...Menu-Diving blows. It's cumbersome and tedious/time-consuming, and too often you change a setting or level that you didn't intend to. The AudioFuse nails it in this regard. On the other hand, between all of the many knobs, buttons, and connection ports, this interface is actually too physically small to ''comfortably'' use. It's basically too ''jam-packed''! This also contributes to the high heat that the chassis or case produces, especially when powered by the AC adapter. I can't hold onto the sides of my unit for more than 2 seconds...it's a very ''hot potato''! IMO, if it was just half again as wide (more like the Audient iD14/iD22 form factor) it would be much easier to use and the heat could be more evenly distributed and dissapated. That also would provide the extra needed space and clearance for all of the connection jacks and ports on the too-tightly-spaced rear panel. However, I do believe that the AudioFuse is one of the best audio interfaces that I've ever heard at this price point. Sound Quality is pristine and neutral, with heaps of clarity, detail, nuance, and air. Image focus and sound stage depth and 3D space is impressive. And the ~75dB of clean gain on the Mic Preamps, compared to most that top out at 60-65dB, is a benefit if you're using Passive Ribbon microphones, or low output dynamic mics, such as the Shure SM7/7B. Connectivity- and feature-wise I don't think anything can touch it at this point in time. But there are some caveats depending on your use case scenario and personal preferences. Read and watch as many real-world reviews as possible.

Thank you for the reply and this great review. I appreciate it! I didn't expect it would run so hot, even though they hinted at it in the video. That said, it's great to hear that the audio quality is so excellent on it. I'll certainly keep researching but I find it hard to believe I'll find a better interface at this price, just as you said. Cheers.

I'm not getting who this unit is aimed at. Don't see too many "pro engineers" having a use for one tbh....
@bbfoto7248
7 жыл бұрын
+ Tim Shoebridge - This obviously is aimed towards the massive independent musician/small home studio market just like the Apollo Twin's, Audient iD22/14/4, Focusrite Scarlett's, etc. Not sure why you're confused about this? It's a massive segment of the marketplace. Having said that...Times are changing somewhat. Quite a few big name engineers are tracking & mixing completely ITB, which eliminates most of the absolute need for all of the outboard gear, mixing console, etc. Most of this is because the quality of the plug-ins are excellent now, and ''recallability'' is a big deal for real pros, so the traditional console/outboard gear setup becomes more problematic in that regard, and it's definitely more work and expense to own & *maintain* traditional consoles & outboard gear. More and more, project budgets are shrinking even for the big boys. You don't always have the budget to book a good studio with a great sounding room. Sure, the need or desire to work at a great studio with a great room or space (sometimes with a killer mic locker that's part of the deal) will keep most going to traditional studios. But even some of these studios with great sounding rooms have consoles, mics, and outboard gear that is in real disrepair and can't be relied upon. Almost every session musician that I know in L.A. has some type of home studio setup where they can do tracking for remote projects, or quickly lay down an additional take if some changes or punch-ins are requested after the initial studio session (happens more often than you know). Having the ability to do this and offering this service will get you the callback for the next project. Most engineers & musicians obviously travel quite a bit. Just about everyone travels with a laptop anyway, or at least an iPad, so why not have a small, portable, easy to use Recording Interface as a back up, and/or to allow you to work on remote projects while you're traveling on another project? With budget shrinking, the key to success these days for musicians, engineers, and producers is multi-tasking and maximization of available production time. A lot of electric guitar, bass, and keyboard players do this and just use the D.I. inputs with amp sims ITB, even in their hotel room while traveling. So even for real pros, a small/portable, good quality interface is desirable, and with its connectivity and features, the AudioFuse covers nearly every musician's needs, in addition to a lot of engineer's and/or producer's needs. Maybe add an outboard 8-channel mic preamp/converter unit when you need it, such as the Audient ASP-880. Or though they are more expensive, units like the Antelope Zen Studio+/Zen Tour, or UA Apollo 8P, might be all you need to do serious, pro-level work, anywhere you need to. So IMO&E, there is definitely a demand for High-Quality, Portable, Feature-Packed units such as the Audiofuse. These units just keep getting better and better in regards to usability and Sound Quality.

Perhaps due to Nick always interrupting Bryan & Jerome before they could complete what they wanted to say. More than a few times I wanted to hear the rest of what they were going to say (it could be valuable information), but the baffoon Nick would constantly blurt out and talk over them as if he had heard enough & what they had to say was worthless. While Nick did have some good leading questions, he was way too impatient and too eager to ''move on'' to ''his'' next point or question. Nick, if you're going to ask a question, please STFU & let them answer it, completely. It would have been way better to just give Bryan & Jerome a list of questions and then let them do the presentation on their own! BTW, I own a AudioFuse.

muttleysat the Track 16 is about 5 years old now so it may or may not have the latest and greatest A/D convertors.
@bbfoto7248
7 жыл бұрын
+muttleysat - Yes, the Motu is older, but that can be an advantage in that it has a proven history. There are plenty of reviews and information out there. If it has the features that you need, and is the more affordable option, it might be the one to go with. Just keep in mind that you will probably want or need the additional breakout box which would be an extra expense and make portability more cumbersome. I do feel that Digital Converter technology and the Mic Preamps in these types of inexpensive interfaces have improved quite a bit in recent years, just due to trickle-down technology if nothing else. In my experience, the AudioFuse has Top-Tier mic preamps and ADC at this price point. The ~75dB of clean gain with its mic preamps might be an advantage, especially if you are using or plan to use passive ribbon microphones and/or low output dynamic microphones such as the Shure SM7/7B. That alone may eliminate the extra expense and need to buy a CloudLifter or similar active in-line ''booster'' preamp. However, I do have some reservations about the heat that is generated by the AudioFuse, and its overall reliability. I'm also personally not a fan of the tiny, delicate micro-USB interface connection, while others may not care. I would just suggest that you always try to buy from a reputable dealer that has a good ''test period'' and/or good return policy.
