A short ride on preserved Bristol RELH6G, CVL850D. This dual-purpose coach was new to Lincolnshire Roadcar in May 1966 as fleet number 1431. It was withdrawn in October 1982 and purchased for preservation. After initially being rallied in the mid 1980's, it was stored for over 20 years, and ownership changed several times during this period. It was eventually sent to Busworks in Blackpool for restoration, this was completed by 2011.
CVL850D is one of few remaining series 1 RE's fitted with the Bristol 5-speed manual transmission, which can often be a challenge to drive. The coach is fitted with a Gardner 6HLX engine. Following some teething troubles with the fuel pump, this has now been overhauled and upgraded to 6HLXB specification. The throttle mechanism was also adjusted correctly, meaning that the performance of the bus has been much improved over previous.
