This is the preshow video to Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.
John Murdy and Art David wrote and co-directed the Preshow video, and Peter Lehman designed the sound.
There are two essential aspects to note about this video. First, because it is projected onto a circular screen, many elements visible in this video are not seen in the actual attraction. The video raster is adjusted to fit all content onto the circular display. Second, we have added the overlay lintel text to this video, which in the attraction is projected onto a set piece located above the video screen.
Revenge of the Mummy: The Ride, commonly called The Mummy Ride, features enclosed steel roller coasters at Universal Studios Florida, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studios Singapore. Inspired by the beloved Mummy film series, these attractions use linear induction motors (LIMs) to accelerate riders from zero to 40 to 45 mph (64 to 72 km/h) in seconds. Each version of Revenge of the Mummy requires riders to be at least 48 inches (120 cm) tall. While the rides at Florida and Singapore share similar track layouts and storylines, the Universal Studios Hollywood version boasts a unique layout and an original storyline. Constructed by Premier Rides and incorporating track switches by Dynamic Structures, the rides were designed by Universal Creative and ITEC Entertainment Corporation.
In 2002, Universal Parks & Resorts initiated the development of a dark ride themed after the widely acclaimed Mummy movie franchise. Universal Studios Florida shut down Kongfrontation on September 8, 2002, and Universal Studios Hollywood closed E.T. Adventure on March 14, 2003, to make room for this new attraction. Revenge of the Mummy debuted at Universal Studios Florida on May 21, 2004, and the Universal Studios Hollywood version followed, opening on June 25, 2004.
