(10 Jan 2018) President Donald Trump welcomed the prime minister of Norway to the White House.
Trump was sitting down with Prime Minister Erna Solberg for meetings at the White House. Solberg is the first foreign leader to visit Trump in 2018.
Trump congratulated Solberg on Norway's military prowess and Solberg noted that her nation sees the U.S. as their closest ally within NATO.
The White House said the leaders would discuss relations between the two countries as well as how to make progress on regional and global security issues and economic prosperity.
They also plan to talk about defense and security goals within NATO and the coalition aligned against the Islamic State group, along with trade matters.
Solberg has said she'd put climate and "open world trade" on the agenda in the bilateral talks.
Trump and Solberg were holding private meetings during the visit and participating in a joint news conference.
