I can't help but notice how Sam's older artistry was disturbing often because of it's low quality that attempted to compensate by over-detailing things. Now that he's gotten legitimately better at art, he can amplify that disturbing factor by at least 150%, since he knows exactly what to exaggerate and what to keep simplistic to guarantee his art stays in the uncanny valley all of the time instead of ending up with something creepy only by happenstance.

It probably deserves its own video, but the U.S. president with the most pets was Roosevelt, who owned 48 pets. Some of his more exotic pets include a black bear, a hyena, a blue macaw, and a one-legged rooster. My personal favorite Roosevelt pet is Josiah the badger, who was fondly carried around by Theodore's son Archie. Josiah was described as having a short temper, but with a fundamentally friendly nature.

I quite literally just spent several days researching presidental pets once I found out Jackie gave away 8 of 9 dogs after JFKs death and BOUGHT A BOOK ON THEM because I couldn’t sleep without knowing what happened to all of them. I highly recommend the book “the dogs of Camelot” it’s a short read and very heartwarming to see such a personable side to the Kennedys. Pushinka being a descendant of the one of the two first dogs to return from orbit was such a cool thing that happened in history, and she was trained to climb up a slide and slide down it with peanuts. Then Jackie Kennedy basically had a contest to give away two of pushinka’s puppies to two American children (from the over 5,000 letters requesting one). I was so distraught over learning Lincoln’s dog was stabbed to death a year after his death and pissed with LBJ’s incompetence that led to his beagle named “Him” to get hit by a car and killed. Him was the same dog he picked up by the ears on that time magazine cover too. But it’s insane that this niche topic I was just obsessed over is covered by the recently resurrected man himself

I should’ve mentioned that all the dogs were given to close friends of the family and one (I can’t remember which one at this very moment) went to the head of their secret service! Jackie’s German shepherd clipper went to a man who worked for them, he had two children who the dog adored and slept with his son every night for the rest of his days :)

Other fun facts to elaborate on a little bit: Lincoln’s dog named Fido was a stray he took in prior to becoming president. The dog followed the him everywhere he went people said the dog would carry things for the president in his mouth- either a purchase Lincoln had made or his wallet according to sources I’ve seen. Fido was allowed to come inside and outside whenever he wanted and came inside the house with mud on his paws and never scolded for doing so. He ate at the table with them for every meal! Lincoln left Fido to a family friend to look over him while he went to the White House because the dog was a bit skiddish and thought the hustle and bustle of DC would be unfair to the dog. Lincoln left strict instruction if this friend were to take in the dog, he was never to be reprimanded for jumping on you and he was an inside dog so he needs to be let inside whenever he scratched the door. The dog would be returned to the family once the presidental run was up. Once source said Lincoln even left this friend his custom made- very expensive and large- couch because Fido loved it so much. Another claimed that Lincoln offered to have a custom couch made since Fido loved that couch so much (I tend to lean towards Lincoln gave his custom couch to the friend). When Lincoln was assassinated, the friend brought Fido to the funeral to say goodbye to the president- Lincoln’s horse was also present for the funeral, draped in black and following directly behind the hearse. There’s pictures of the horse in his funeral garb if you google it! Speaking of which, Fido was likely the first presidental dog photographed! In general, Lincoln was known to love animals and was very fond of cats too. A year following his death, the family which owned Fido went searching for the dog after they hadn’t seen him in a couple days. They found him in the yard of a Church with stab wounds, dead. Stories of the exact circumstances vary on whether or not it was an accident (I tend to think it was intentional) either a man who was sharpening a stick accidentally stabbed the dog who was jumping up at him or the same man, who was known as a local drunk, stabbed the dog for jumping on him with dirty paws. His death is detailed in two separate accounts here: www.sj-r.com/story/lifestyle/2015/09/13/sangamon-county-history-was-stabbing/33551437007/ Fido was at least 10 years old, so at least he wasn’t cut down in his prime.

Ummm sorry my dude but have you ever been acquainted with beagles? They are all escape artists who will blindly run after a scent with no regard for roads or cars. They also will not listen to anyone while on their mission. Growing up two neighbors on either side of me had beagles and my aunt had one and they all were constantly one escape from death. Darting across roads while paying zero attention to their surroundings, but they were bred for that.
@Apopcyp
10 ай бұрын
LBJ’s had two beagles, a boy and a girl named Him and Her- their father’s name was Beagle. Him was on the cover of Life magazine, not Time, my bad. Her died a couple years before her brother because she swallowed a stone. Even though they died young due to what I think is just plain incompetence (if JFK and Roosevelt could maintain basically a zoo in the White House, LBJ should have been able to manage two dogs), I do think LBJ really did have genuine affection for them even given the ear pulling incident- older generations didn’t have the same level of competence when it came to compassion and LBJ seemed to honestly not know not to pull on the dog’s ears, I think a former president/ congress person made a public statement defending him saying that’s how you treat hounds, so it’s very likely this was a common practice for people to do? LBJ had his dogs with him in the Oval Office, in meetings, and they had free range of anywhere and everywhere. After the death of Him and Her, he had three more dogs, but his favorite seemed to be this small little dog of mixed breed named Yuki. There’s some cute pictures of them out there
