I'm in the UK, and I am really made up with it. Tomy did a really fine job in creating this replica. The plug holes and seams? You don't even notice them from a couple of feet away. Those that decided not to go ahead and purchase, well, I bet they are kicking themselves now. There was a total of 2515 backers for these replicas, which I presume means 2515 of these models are out there, perhaps another 100 or so because some purchased more than 1! I would guess about 2600 were made, something like that. All the tooling for these models have been disposed of, so this is a limited edition, and will never be made again! A lot of collectors have missed out on a unique brilliantly detailed 1:350, Diecast Replica Model all because of the plug holes and seams, which you don't really notice anyway. Thanks for the video... Oh! Double tap the lighting on the saucer section and the lights for the impulse engines turn on...

I saw on their web page the fundraiser was closed 559 days ago, 2424 backers bought one, 164 backers that bought two, and 61 backers that bought three. Which means there were at least 2,935 based on the numbers on their web page. I say that because I called the Tomy outlet store on Monday January 29th 2024, just to enquire if I might purchase one now and ended up buying three for $599 each, they've already arrived. The only thing is that I paid $30 each for shipping with no tax. Tabitha at the outlet store said they had some that were "unspoken for" and available for purchase now. I have no idea how many they had or why there were available to be honest. But I can tell you I never expected to be able to buy one let alone three at the original cost at this late date. As one might imagine, I jumped at the chance, it's like winning the Star Trek lottery.

@@robertkees6048 don't sell them for a profit just yet. They are not going for what they were back in November which was 3 times the original price. Now it's more like twice. Hold onto them for 3-5 years

The U.S.S. ENTERPRISE NCC-1701 is in the original Constitution Class of Starships. Captain Kirk call her a lady and most sailing ships of old were regarded as she or a female by old salty sailors… lol There’s a rich history about the ENTERPRISE name from Starfleet Command in the Star Trek Universe. May we suggest you check out Star Trek Wikipedia for free online information. We also did a review and you’re welcome to view ours and leave a comments or opinions about this beautiful replica. We would be honored to have someone’s feedback from Down Under and maybe share the price on how much you paid. Just curious. Great review video and LL&P 🖖! Best Wishes, G-MAN Texas, USA 🇺🇸 Peace ✌️!

There's was a english company called Tomy that made diecast cars but they merged with Takara in Asia and they usually put Takara Tomy on their products. Maybe it's they just labeled Tomy? Just a guess

Hi, Don't know how many were available in Australia, but I jumped at the opportunity to get one and I think it is a beautiful model. The screw plugs are a minor issue in my opinion. The stand could be modified to give better asthetics which I'm currently looking at. If I could have bought 2 I would have. Very pleased to have in my possession.

It's beautiful. I hate the weathering though. Not just on this model but on any collector's model. Aesthetically speaking, who wants to see dirty ass streaks on their starship? I don't recall ever seeing it on the saucer section in TOS. Technically speaking, I thought the purpose of the main deflector dish was to act like a plow and direct dust and charged particles out of the path of the Enterprise. If the hull of the Enterprise were impacted at warp by such particles, I believe weathering would be the least of their problems.

Roddenberry instructed that the studio model have weathering. He wanted to convey the ship had some history. The weathering did not really show on TV though. When they remastered the special effects they had the ship be clean. I think they should of added weathering to stay faithful, but whatever. In the novel Star Trek: The Motion Picture written by Gene Roddenberry (great book by the way if you are interested in how Roddenberry saw Star Trek), Kirk notices that the refit Enterprise has no weathering as opposed to the way it looked before the refit. I never noticed the weathering because of old TV sets, but it is clearly on the studio model. If TOMY makes the refit Enterprise (fingers crossed!!!), it will look great to put the two models side by side and the weathering will help show the contrast.

@@chrishuisman769 The painting of that model is certainly gorgeous compared to the previous restoration. Like I mentioned earlier, my problem is two-fold; first, that the weathering was never visible to my knowledge on the show and second, I don’t see how the weathering is even possible, based on the stated purpose of the main deflector.

@tessjess1 the screw plugs are an eye sore. The seams are horrible. Light leaks at the seams. The base is a bad design. When he crowd funded this. He hmpromised so much and when we I saw the what we were getting. I canceled my order. I do not regret it. I'd rather buy the polarlights model kit spend the same amount on electronics and paint. Spent 6 months building it and have a way better display model than this.
