"The lines when you look back are so long Differently suspended all the time Having looked up I was convicted with a sound Of shadows talking lower in the night There was obviously effort in the past You were close, we took comfort in the sound Of the air in places that we hadn't found. O honey, we're sinning! We forget So long, slowly, we draw out our suspicions on the past When we realized that we surely couldn't last On an impulse reaction of our ideas on the future. why is the bass so low in the mix? did anything happen like a mistake when recording? i'm pretty certain they recorded without metronome so maybe there were things that couldnt be re-recorded. kinda sounds like the bass was saturating when recorded, otherwise i cant understand why that specific tone or distortion was chosen. i love this album with all of my heart and it truly changed my life. as a bassist myself i would have loved a different choice on this record. there's even a certain appeal to the fact that the guitar tunings are so rare and the songs overall are so improvised and unique, also maybe even the bass is trying to disappear. the whole band is trying to disappear, they have philosophy that faces or names or titles o forms don't matter. in that sense i can understand this one is a masterpiece and a perfect album. still i have to say i would have loved a bass that sounds better. the bass lines are beutifully free, melodic and yet so supportive.
