I love your videos! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I feel like the most difficult starts for me have been forearm or really superficial “juicy” veins that blow when trying to insert/thread the catheter and this technique makes SO much sense. ❤️ it’s one of those forehead slapping moments like “duh” - this also seems like a good technique for those really hypertensive patients - thank you! Love your channel & IG account 💕💕

That vein will never blow or role LOL ... I have tried from the side but elderly people’s veins always seem to roll on me.

Hi there, I watch all your videos and love them! I am a new grad and I work on an obstetrical unit where I insert IVs a lot of the time. So in school I learnt when drawing blood from a new IV start is that we start the IV, flush and aspirate for patency, get blood discard, attach the vacutainer and obtain the blood. During these steps the tourniquet is kept on the entire process right? I am not sure if I am supposed to take off the tourniquet when flushing? Does this cause the vein to blow? I noticed I've been blowing my veins lately.

BD Insyte Autoguard BC! It must say BC at the end and stand for "blood control". These are my favorite for the BC aspect but also because you get to see flash up the catheter, then secondly into the chamber.

What does you mean when a veins blows?

I wondered this too. Everyone says it, and sometimes can't even articulate what they mean by it. Basically/usually, it's when you end up pushing the needle too far through the vein, puncturing a second hole, and causing a hematoma, ie, blood leaking out of the vein.

I hate getting these done at the hospital during birth! It seems like everyone is incompetent and I have to get multiple sticks 😓. Last time I was like 7 before they finally got one. Never again! Thanks for sharing 🙏🏿!
