This is purely a heads up, not trying to be a know it all. Low spot drains could be more dangerous in that application. I'm guessing the water is not chlorinated and potentially has long periods of time where the water doesn't move. The low spot can harbor bad microbiology. I work in an environment that has to sanitize its water lines every three days and low spots are not allowed for this reason and others. When I started they had low and or dead end spots and they repeatedly had results from the lab that did not pass. They eliminated the low and dead ends and the problem went away. This was all in a completely stainless steel pipe system. The low spot is a great thing to have to be able to drain the whole system but a shark bite connection there would serve the same purpose and eliminate the potential problem. Or a pvc union would work just as well. Again just a friendly heads-up.

great info -- thanks for the first hand knowledge... this water is chlorinated but your point is still well taken.... I'm assuming the low point areas held water that would not circulate? If that is the case, I can see how the original config of the shutoff at our property would result in that... but the new valve we installed should eliminate that problem. I don't see an area where water would get stuck as the low point valve is now directly in-line with the main line. my camper, on the other hand, has low point drains that hold water constantly... we don't drink that water but again its a very relevant point...

@@thelonelandlord Correct, in our situation the water was not able to circulate and since we are running drink mixes in our pipes there are a lot more solids than you would expect drinking water to contain. Your old setup may have never caused an issue and the new one likely will not as well; but there is a chance whenever there is a location that can't circulate. We both certainly have pipes that run to hose faucets that don't get used for months at a time so clearly it's not a short-term issue, this would be more of a long term issue if at all.
