I rely quite a bit on my Ray marine autopilot when sailing solo and have the boat all kitted out in the older generation ST60 gear that I got cheap second hand. I have purchased a hard wired old one cheap but long wires in the cockpit are as welcome as a fart in a space suit. I am a software developer with an interest in electronics so went about designing a board that I could hook into the seatalk system and allow me to control remotely.
The video shows some of the progress i'm making . I hope to show shortly controlling it from your phone web browser and receiving instrument data .
The great thing is once the hardware is done and installed , firmware updates can be sent out to improve functionality .
