Hello, Micheal! thanks for the awesome video was really helpful! but there is one thing is getting in the way, which is the splitting doesn't impact the resources uploaded on the activities and they (resources) remain unmoved in case of in-progress activities, it (resource) takes the actual start of the activity and it maintains the generated finish and I can't see the splitting so, is there anyway I can solve this? looking forward to hearing from you. thank you

XXXXXXXXXXXX I Respectfully disagree with you as you can split the activity from (Suspend/Resume option) and it will show on the Gantt chart but the only problem it does not show in any timescale except daily and hourly as its so small to see if its on Yearly, Quarterly, Monthly or even weekly. Steps are 1. change the time scale to daily 2. Right click on the Gantt chart and Select bars 3. Go the remaining Duration as example 4. Go to bar setting ( the one in the center) 5. Tick out the Calendar nonworking Time 6. Hit Apply what will happen it will show a line and and a boxes the line represent the nonworking time including shifts and boxes are the working times so if you have a 24 hour shift, its going to show a line of boxes ( a continuous bar) and when you do not have a working shift or SUSPENDED work, its going to show in a line. The problem is that when you advance with the Data Date line, It shows as the activity is on going (blue bar). Besides the actual remaining activity is shown correctly on the that you expect to start (Resume date).

Thank you very much Micheal it helped me very well. So far, I would like to split an activity more than 2, ex. in 4 gaps? Regards

Do you think it can work? As we plan to start an activity on 1st February and stop at the end of February, resume on 1April and stop at the end of April, again resume Jun and stop at the end Jun, and finaly Resume on 1st August and finish at the end of August 100%. Sir, What is your point about the matter?

@@mamadoualphabintabah5791 I'm facing the same thing. Actually I have just created several tasks to represent that (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3...), and correctly assign the resources. Other way we have a problem with the resource assignment. I see that the trick Micheal did doesnt have a lot of "usability" . Unless you just want to represent the graphic bar slitted on the same line. Cheers

I have a question why when connecting activity 1 with activity 2 are still parallel, how do I create a work series in Timescale? Which should have started work 2 when job 1 was finished

Can you explain me how to add new activities in between two activities which already created
@PlanAcademy

Just renumber the activity to an ID between the 2 existing activities. It's all about the Activity ID field. Click the Activity ID column header to make sure you're sorting by Activity ID in the right order.

That wasn't a clever trick. You did not split the activity, you just added a suspend duration bar near to the activity bar, which remained continuous. The goal is to split the activity bar the way as in MS project and to move the FS link from the end of the proceeding which supposedly to finish on Aug.-19, to the end of the first split say on Aug.-10, allowing the succeeding activity to start earlier rather Aug.-19

@@mohammedabdelhafez540 I am not a supporter for split bar. Because basically there has to be a reason why an activity must be split. And Primavera follows true logic in the scheduling. And IMHO, split bar is just cosmetic in value. Just split the main activity into two then just put new activity (the reason) in between. This is showing a true logic in the plan. Another story when the suspend happen after the main activity has been started. Then we can use the "suspend-resume" function of P6. But I usually still do the manual activity split as I mentioned above. If the management asked for a split bar, I just answer: P6 does not support that :)

@@vyatranto I think it was already copyright by MS project, so P6 can't use this feature in the app😄😄😄
