Uh I didn't expect this to get more than 400 views honestly, and I have to give some credit. Original post that gave me the idea to make this. I only watched the video and I have not seen the comments, which would have been helpful when making this... Very sorry again for not mentioning it in the video. Also they posted their 2D version (I thought it was a different person for some reason) www.reddit.com/r/redstone/comments/1fuumuu www.reddit.com/r/redstone/comments/1fwgwxn Again stome stuff I didn't mention: Forgot to say that the fact that the mobs move up when not seen adds a lot of wiggle room for the vertical version. Mostly fixable with more distance. IMO 12x12 resolution is easly doable but above that there might be a problem with how dense the mobs get + their order in the 2d space will make it hard to wire. I don't want to limit it but i will say 32x32 will be the absolute limit for this. I totally missed that the creaking despawns when out of 32 blocks range even when spawned with an egg, I find it weird. It felt random to me. This could be used for for example a Pong game. And sorry for the FOV it was easier to debug with it maxed

1 - high fov (quake pro) is the best fov and the only. 2 - This video deserves an INSANE amount of credit, more views, more likes, I'm subbed because of this vid you made. 3 - This mechanic really does give a purpose to the creaking lol (jk the creakings fine), and I can see this concept being used widely. I feel like this video is something someone would add as credit in their's, ya know, when going over the creaking. Once again, this is an AWESOME invention, I honestly can't wait to see what Minecraft computers people will make when they find out you can have a cursor without command blocks. Having a single niche use in redstone is better than none, but imagine at least a block that would detect players looking at it or activate when nobody's looking. Even better maybe, make the signal strength proportional or inversely proportional to the distance of the closest player looking at it. Would be for most purposes so much more convenient than using a mob that despawns if you walk away.
@pomelo9518
4 күн бұрын
That would destroy the out of the box thinking that gives Redstone its distinctove character. You don't do X with the X-block, you think about the steps involved in doing X and harness the available game mechanics. Imho, we should make the Creaking aggro at something, the aggro state which then keeps it alive. Or have some other unobtrusive way of resetting the despawn timer.

The very thought of expecting the creaking having a drop is stupid, because the creaking heart is its own drop. If it had a drop, then you could break and place the creaking heart infinitely. Honestly, sometimes I feel like there are too many children in this game's community.

We had CPU, RAM, storage, display, keyboard; all we were missing was just a mouse. Welp, here it is. And actually we can click with it too. If we switch our main hand item to warped fungus and back quickly, a strider in the same setup as the creakings here will rise up and down, briefly triggering a tripwire hook which we can then use as a left click.

If the detection works through blocks, you can dramatically speed up and simplify this design, by making the display curved. Imagine being in a ring of creakings. A 70 degree section of them will be down, while the others will be up. All you have to do is lay a circle of redstone down. The signal of the creakings that are up, will slowly decay, and will be the weakest at the point youre looking at. Now make the circle big enough so the signal strength is zero and add torches. Now you have a 2d version. You can apply the same system to the pitch axis. Boom, semispherical display.

I dont know the mechanic. But aside from eye tracking which seems super time intensive so calculate. If vision can be detected through glass. We could atleast detect player view orientation on the 4 or even 6 axis of 3D space in a reasonabily responsive way. Then if we also wanted to hide this form player perhaps a retexture of seethrough blocks as nonseethrough can do the job.
