@@pennyandrews3237 you know, I never thought about it that way....but maybe he knew that one day when he ever left this earth that plethora of his life's creation was going to be released to the world. He was a man of the future; you are so right! I've always loved him since I was a little girl...I remember being so small, not even 4 years old, laying inside a pillowcase on the floor with my headphones on, falling asleep listening to his TAPES. Yes, tapes people. I was the old school...lol. But after he died I got back into his work, not just music but his movies...and it's just a blessing that all this wonderful music and movies and TV appearances (that coincidentally people ALWAYS said, "he don't do interviews".…but he's got a lot of damn interviews and clips online of him being interviewed, and on talk shows and such ...)....all this is his gift to us. Tyka, his sister, said that about 2 years before he passed, he said to her that he felt like he'd done everything he came here to accomplish. She says ever since that statement, she knew, she knew he was ready to go. Listen to his song "Way Back Home". I find that very ironic. So many things about his music, so many lyrics...it's like he was one of those wonderful special people who was meant to be here for just a little while. He touched so many people during his time here and continues to do so.

As a white teen in the metal scene back in this time. The Super Bowl performance cemented this man in my mind ever since. I just remember watching him in the rain, playing and singing his ass off. Damn right!!! It wasn't just his music, it was his whole persona, that man lived music, he breathed music, as he said in an interview once....he WAS music. Lots of other musicians out there take their craft seriously...but this man.....music was his whole life. Artists go through what we call "creative blocks" (I'm not a musician, I'm a visual artist, but can't really call myself that anymore as I've had to put down my paintbrush, my pencils, etc due to having health stuff). I don't think this man ever had one. He created from the time he was young until his death. I guess I must be living in a hole though (I don't watch TV, news, read newspapers, etc)....because I didn't know John Blackwell had passed. They're up there on a purple cloud making music together 🕊️
