I wish people had a bit more respect for Naz. One loss doesn’t nullify a whole career. He was brilliant entertainment and in the final analysis that’s a big deal because being good box office keeps everything running. Naz’s fights were great. You didn’t know who to be worried about - his opponents on the end of those shots that came from nowhere and laid them out, or Naz, because he was always going to get beaten at some point, and it’s a hard fall from all that arrogance. But the arrogance was part of what made Naz compelling to watch. Kevin Kelley gave us a heads up and Barrera beat him fair and square. It seems people are really nastily glad he took a loss. Thrilled about it. I think that’s a bit sad, really. He was a hell of fighter. But there’s always someone out there who’s going to be better on the night. Thanks, Naz, for a lot of thrilling fight time.

unrepeatable raddish yeah, because he was good entertainment and it must have been tough to accept that your whole style wasn’t going to work with a certain level of opponent. I just think he should get some recognition for that rather than all the hate.

10 years of a professional boxing career and he accomplished more than anyone can within such a short span. Boxers and athletes in general are more prone to various forms of injuries and unfortunately in his case, his hands were severely injured which caused him to step out of the ring. Your hands are the most important and valuable asset in the sport of boxing and without them you're impotent and vulnerable. I believe that he made the right decision at the right time and he should not regret a thing. He dominated the vast majority of his fights and his record speaks for itself, he entertained millions of people, developed a strong fan base, raised a family, opened many boxing gyms and maintained a healthy level of wealth, etc.

Don't like it? Tough shit. Yes, I agree. Naseem was an exciting fighter, but the first - and only - time he stepped up in real class, he was utterly exposed and schooled. He didn't like it, pouted, quit and got fat. NOT the heart of a champion. Didn't catch Calzaghe, Hagler, Holyfield, Hearns or Eubank Snr (to name but a few) doing this. No. They were real men and true champions. And you know it deep down....:)

Tony C. He only lost once in his career. He did deserve that lost, because he was an asshole. However, he was not a fraud because if was , he would've lost many more fights in his career. Most people will say that someone's a fraud just because they don't like someone, instead of proving it with facts. A good example of this, is when Muhammad Ali got dropped by Henry Cooper. Getting embarrassed by an underdog in Copper didn't change the fact that the man had a great career.

He did retire way too early. He was an incredibly talented fighter. You often find the people who criticise him are usually racist. He lost to Barrea because he was well and truly under prepared. I'm sure if they had of had a rematch, it would of been a different story. That loss hurt his ego and nobody had an ego like Naz!
@jasonvoorheesthethird

John Burke exactly! Naz was the best..he lost because of his broken hand, and because of that he was very very unprepared, he spent 7 months out of the gym, so he couldnt prepare for the fight Anyway, no matter what you say, theres always some idiots saying that he never fought good boxers..they really have no idea what they are talking about! Lol Yeah, only ignorants and racists hates Naz, they cant admit how great of a boxer he was...period He was an amazing boxer, one of the all time best

John Burke he did not merit a rematch and if he had returned with a baseball bat in each hand he would still have been beaten by Barrera. It was no contest. None at all. Fact is the match was so uneven it ought to never have been made at all. Naz has a lot of time to prepare his Islamic preaching that night, he mad a complete ass of himself bring such nonsense into boxing. No way should any boxer be allowed to use the ring or the sport, in such an embarrassing debasing manner. Frankly he utterly trashed himself and his silly attempt at islamisation of boxing.

Sheikh Fahad your having a laugh. Soon as he went into the ring with a class act, which he did with Pablo Barrera, foolishly so, he was absolutely humiliated. He was a moving punch bag in that fight. Fact is he did not merit a fight of that class. He simply was not in that world. Never could be. His level was punching out either over the hill veterans or weak challengers. America was where the champions ruled. Naz was found out like he was always going to be, the day he stepped out of his comfort zone and into the truly top class level Barrera and his peers ruled supreme. To go out the way he did, ranting on about Islam and such bullshit, like he was fucking Bin Laden the dwarf, was embarrassing to the point of depicting himself as a dim wit. Actually he is a dim wit. Only a dim wit would have totally humiliated himself in such a narcissistic manner in front of the world boxing fraternity. Cringe, the princess of it forever.

Hey, Nas, you are my favorite fighter of all time! Were you the GOAT? I doubt it. But you were every bit the showman Ali was and you brought the most unconventional and entertaining style to boxing that, I think, anyone has ever seen. Time will tell, but it may be that nobody ever again contributes to the sport of boxing what Prince Naseem Hamed did. Much respect! I know it must be painful to cope with a loss after so many spectacular wins as an undefeated champion, but I would have liked to hear your honest opinion on that. We all know you as this bulletproof champion who could never be defeated, and I imagine when it happened you were even more shocked than your fans! I have always wondered how much of your characteristic ego - that element that made you the showman that you are! - was actually show vs. real. Compare to more recent champions like Ronda Rousey, who obviously had difficulty reconciling after a loss. In any event, you will always be the best to many of your fans, Nas! Nobody can take that away from you!
