Say what anyone wants to say nobody can say that Phillip didn’t give his all to Great Britain and the Commonwealth. He loved his children he just didn’t show it hardly surprising considering both his parents were absent for a lot of his childhood. The Queen ruled the country but Phillip ruled the household. He was a strong personality forward thinking innovative. He was no fuss and nonsense just get on with it type of man. He was very much under valued by the establishment. He was the rock our late Queen relied on sadly she was never the same after his death and followed him by two years. Their story was a true love story the late Queen loved him warts and all. And in consideration of what diverse traumas that fell to him to get through he had every right to ‘get it wrong now and then’…All that said and done, he fulfilled his duty during the war as a naval officer, had a fair and worthy sense of humour, and became the supreme love of Queen Elizabeth’s life to her credit as well as to his. On the two points ie their love for each other, perhaps if from edgeways angle one might say she loved him a little more than his love then I would say one whose love is greater becomes greater, and is greater, God bless her, as she no doubt at all would say ‘then God bless him, who is the love of my life’. I agree Prince Philip didn’t suffer fools gladly, but he was a man’s man, and good judge of character, and would not let you down if he saw you as fair. For pity's sake. Prince Philip was indeed British. His mother was Princess Alice of Battenberg, great-granddaughter of Queen Victoria. He was Danish and Russian on his father's side. Greece comes in because a hole opened in Greek affairs and his Danish grandfather was popped in as King George I of Greece. After his assassination, Prince Philip's uncle Constantine succeeded him while Philip's father was styled as Andrew, prince of Denmark and Greece. Constantine abdicated and the rest of the family, including Prince Philip, was forced into exile. He was a mix of German, Russian, Danish, and British. He did not have a drop of real Greek blood in him.

I also like that he really tried with Diana understanding how it felt to be on the outside a bit. He had the old school duty and silence for the crown sensibility due to seeing how nasty things could turn in his childhood if the public lost confidence in the crown. Diana didn’t and that left her alone. It was a sad situation that was hopeless from the beginning. She outshined Charles who was in love with Camilla and felt unappreciated to begin with. His ego was too fragile to be outshined so he resented her in addition to living another. I do feel Karma won as he had to wait nearly his entire life to finally marry Camilla and later become King. But Diana and the boys suffered greatly for it all.

Yes, the Glucksburgs were Danish instead of Greek in origin. However, Phillip's branch HAD been made the Greek royal family for almost 60 years around the time of his birth. Interestingly his cousin King Alexander I HAD married a Greek noble woman named Aspasia but this had been vigorously objected to by the rest of the family and even the Greek government and they were still disputing the union's validity when the young king suddenly died from a monkey bite[!] and only reluctantly recognized it after Aspasia bore his posthumous daughter Alexandra.

@@maryjovergara9950 'Greek blue blood' if one considers that the House of Glucksburg (part of the Danish royal family of almost entirely German extraction) was ruling Greece at the time! The Duke of Edinburgh's father was Prince Andrew of Greece who was the son of King George I of Greece (born Prince William of Denmark but had been selected to reign over Greece at age 17 and had been compelled to change his name to a traditionally Greek name since William ['will helmet'] is a Germanic name while George [ 'Earth husband'] is a Greek one! It should be noted that it was only due to the dual factors of his father being the heir to a distant cousin for the Danish throne and his sister Alexandra marrying the heir apparent of the British throne [and the British having the strongest navy in the world back then] that prompted the Greeks to choose him and he wound up becoming King of the Hellenes before his father succeeded to the Danish throne! As for the Duke of Edinburgh's mother Alice's 'blue blood'? Well, the Battenbergs were descended from a morgantic union of one of sons of a Grand Duke of Hesse which meant that they were barely considered marital progeny but did NOT have any claim to the Dukedom of Hesse! IOW, the Greek (and Danish ) royal dynasty had been established just two and three generations before the Duke of Edinburgh's birth - and the Bowes-Lyons were descended from Scottish and English noble families.

Thank you for this video, it's very well done, a lot of time and research went into it. I want to see all your videos now. I think you showed Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip both respect. I appreciate it, I think they've earned it, worldwide. Men can be so obtuse sometimes... I don't doubt every woman on the planet knew it was true love forever with his wedding gift. That's HUGE! It's not that he FORGOT (just the opposite, this one took time to ponder) - it's that he cared enough to figure out what would mean the most to her on their wedding day... "what say I give my wife the gift of me loving her maybe a decade longer, would that mean the most to her?". Think what the person you're getting the gift for really wants, not what YOU think... like flowers = boring, thoughtless, and last minute. For $20.00 you can save the African elephants by buying/donating a beehive as a natural fence, buy a star in her name, fix her supper and do the dishes half the week, fill an antique jar with origami fortune cookies (it's easy, I've made them, women turn inside out on this one) - with each fortune saying something you love about her - (not her looks!, her personality), paint a heart with both your initials inside it on your pickup truck. Get it? Men... 🙄 That crack about "all the princes"... Prince Edward is a good man, works his heinie off, and is sincere, he has values, he's a lot like Anne. The other two are an embarrassment at best, or a waste of good air.

Prince Philip was NOT Greek, there never has been greek royalty since the fall of Constantinople. Upon the independance of Greece monarchy was imposed on the Hellenic state by the powers of the time. The rf of Greece was a curse for the country and abolished in 1974. I have posted similar comments several times, please get your facts straight.

Actually Philip II of Spain wasn’t a consort, he was Mary I’s co-monarch. Same with William of Orange, he was William III, co-monarch with Mary II. He then ruled on his own after Mary’s death until his death eight years later. It wasn’t until Prince Albert that England had a male consort, then again with Prince Philip.

Prince Phillip had a very interesting life. Yes, King George Vl died suddenly. Prince Phillip was the first member of the Royal family who was qualified to fly an airplane. Very true, with all the guards around him Prince Phillip was never able to do anything with anyone. King Charles lll and Diana Spenser were not suited for each other. Prince Phillip was very good for the Windsor's.

His mother was born in Windsor Castle. He was also more royal than the Queen.. You can't get any more British or Royal than that. Yet he was treated appalling by the courtiers. The huge success of the Queen's reign was due to Prince Philip. She couldn't have done it without him. She may have been the Queen on the throne but he was the King behind it.

They should just the CC married each other back then. Of course they won’t have beautiful children like Diana’s sons and grandkids, but it would spared Diana falling in love with a man who is loving another woman. It just sickening. The queen’s father allowed her to marry her lover. Why didn’t her let her son married his lover.? Why drag an innocent young woman into this mess and painful memories?

As an American son of a British subject . Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip were admirable the represented Great Britain well. I had respect for them. I have zero respect for Weak Chin Charles(no this has nothing to do with Diana) . Great Britain will have to wait for Prince William to take the throne for a person of admirable quality to be on the throne again.
