I like this and other versions of this song I've heard, BUT my favorite is still by the man himself Jimi Hendrix. The way Jimi played it, when he played and where he played it all equals something very, very special.. Actually I was surprised to find this. I've heard Prince play Red House, but this is the only other Hendrix song I've heard him play. I would imagine he plays some others.

after the drama has subsided with the expert Hendrix historians i'll add i like Prince's jam a lot; he's not trying to copy & yes...perhaps he is out of tune with the drums(sic)...this is a lovely on-the-fly homage to Our Hero & Prince was throwing out good stuff,... we miss him!

i've played this song in the past so it is refreshing to hear somebody else's approach.Prince is so good & gives a lot of ideas,he's a great guitarist, i've learned a lot hearing this and there is pride in hearing how good a "cover" can be.This isn't about comparison, it's about playing a beautiful song with your own style

This is a beautiful echo of the genius moment called Villanova junction. Prince did a good job not to just cover, but making his own jam around it. Sad, we lost both way to early

Prince was never vocal about hendrix or his influence on his own music. This is the first time I’ve seen anything from prince referencing “the MAN”. The fact it’s a lesser known piece shows how into Hendrix he was

Agree. Simple and subtly masterful in the original. Jimi : Tension. Unless you are loose enough and weary too you can't get sexy.
