Pristina - Europe's youngest capital. Well... the capital of a new country? Newborn? Is the Republic of Kosovo even a country? People and their believes are, of course, divided and stir up a lot of emotion locally. Officially, Kosovo has been recognized by 98 countries (including 23 from the European Union including Poland and 24 NATO countries. Serbia, which for historical reasons considers it as a part of its own state, obviously does not accept this. The dispute is unresolved and the situation between the governments and citizens of the two countries remains tense.
Undoubtedly, Kosovo's independence was helped by the United States. The key figures of the US government involved in the process - then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and President Bill Clinton, who even lived to see his own corner on the city's main thoroughfare - have been commemorated in the city with monuments. Currently, the country is administered with the help of the UN mission and NATO troops.
I, on the other hand, want to show you the state as it is now, what Pristina looks like from the inside and what I saw when visiting the place, because in the whole context I find it incredibly interesting and from the point of view of a tourist it is worth visiting.
