Definitely a few unique airlines that fly from LAX. I often see this flight for its Government essential air services. I loved the fact the boarding was an emergency exit lol. @TheSynecdoche
5 жыл бұрын
No, the props run at a fixed rpm (1700). Speed changes are made by altering the props' angle. All the pilot sees is a faint haze. What a camera chip sees is altogether different.

@JoS-kf5rt

That bump on the end of the wing is actually the weather radar. Instead of it being on the nose of the aircraft, most single engine turboprops have the weather radar on the wing because of the propellor on the front. Thanks and great video!

Fun! I don't remember the airline, but in '97 I flew in a tiny (12 seater - 6 seats on each side) plane from Oxnard to LAX. The cockpit had a curtain to pull across, although the pilot never bothered. After sitting on the runway for a half hour (due to an El Niño storm with high winds) the pilot turned around, grinned, and said we're going to go for it. We bounced and buffeted our way down the coast to LA with perfect visibility. Like your flight, we flew low the entire way since it didn't take long at all.

I’m thinking about using them to go to Norfolk. Comparable to Amtrak pricing but way faster, and certainly cheaper than flying even Southwest from BWI. But the thing about EAS is the routes that get subsidized switch up every so often. Like they used to fly to PIT via JST, now they fly via Altoona.

@gasfiltered
6 жыл бұрын
You'll notice if you go back to the front of the video that the flaps as they pull into the stand are at the same setting they were for takeoff. When you know the aircraft is going right back out, you get the plane as configured as possible before shutting down, including setting flaps and trim to takeoff positions. In other words, not only have after landings been done, but so have much of the before takeoff checks.

Bump on the end of the wing is the radome for the weather radar...
@floatthecreek
7 жыл бұрын
Actually, the "bump" on the wing is not weather radar. It's whats called a storm scope. It only detects lightning. Radar is fed to the aircraft via a satellite link on the PC-12. I know this because I fly on of these. I hold a Commercial Pilot Licence, ASEL, AMEL, Instrument Airplane along with an Airframe and Powerplant Rating (mechanic) with an Inspection Authorization. I have spent the last 40+ years in the aviation sector and will do so till I retire. Someday.
