Cherrapunji (or locally known as Sohra) is the abode of clouds and waterfalls and the Polo Orchid Resort here served just the purpose for my private pool stay within a budget.
We booked the log hut/log cabin/standard hut as the resort people call it and it had a private pool and exquisite mountain views.
We stayed for one night here and that costed us ₹16,000 for a night (not 18 as I mistakenly told in the video). The private pool overlooks the mountain and that is perhaps the best part of this room. The resort also has an Infinity pool which directly overlooks the seven sister waterfalls. However at this time of the year (mid October), the waterfalls were not in full swing and we could see only small stream of the seven sister waterfalls.
The resort has only one restaurant called the Sohra house. The food was not what we would expect in such an expensive resort but that was made Good Friday extremely polite and courteous behaviour by the staff.
The morning videos were unparalleled you could see Bangladesh from the room. In the morning we followed a little trail to catch the sunrise and that was totally worth it.
p.s.: The entry rules in Meghalaya are pretty simple currently. Double vaccinated people (at least 15 days since the second dose) do not need anything in particular. Just carry the final vaccination certificate or else a negative RT PCR test. Apply on www.meghalayat... for an e-invite before entering Meghalaya.
