Yep I was afraid of that. I bought 3 of them back in 2016 for a home theater set up. I discovered real fast something wasn’t right with them. I found out that any speaker with a 10” driver or smaller. They would play real well and clean. But I have a pair of towers that have dual 15” drivers in each. They would play the midrange and tweet but did not have enough oomph to get the drivers moving. So I tried a 10” doc sub woofer in a ported box. Subwoofer barely moved. In fact the only way you could hear the bass was to stick your ear against the port. So if you speakers are 10” or less full range only. Then you could get buy. If you running studio speakers in a home recording studio. They will work fine. If you want to rock out a nightclub. That will be a no go. You will have no customer. To spend money while they dance 🕺 lol 😂.

I agree with all that you point out. As an owner of a McIntosh, Nakamichi & Klipsch based main system (very old but VERY good) ...I surprised myself & I did buy one of their products ...it was very cheaply priced & I intended to only use it for headphones on my flight sim. It was rated at a ridiculous 1,000 watts!!! I would be happy if it put out 10% of that so I took a chance & ordered one. However, I ended up liking it & I use it for our (Kitchen) sound system ...replacing an old, but pretty good Sony amp. It is not of the quality one would consider for critical classical music listening or such. But at the low price I paid, ...it sounds good & does a lot, so ...I've no complaints.

As a pro audio guy, this made my head hurt! No balanced inputs, no Speakon outputs. Surprised to see that toroidal transformer inside. One that size is good for a legit 400W RMS. This is like flea market grade shit! Makes Behringer look like touring gear! LMAO! At least look at it this way...if the fan noise annoys you, unplug them. The amp isn't going to overheat! hahahahaha!

I always worry about fan noise as well as hum. Not to mention inflated specs.

Do a crown xli 3500 It weighs 50 lb and puts out 2,700 watts at 8 ohms. Or maybe peavey ipr2 7500. Claiming to put out 47500 watt at 2ohm. That would be interesting. Myself I chose the crown over the peavey.

I can’t test amps that powerful at this time. Amp Dyno has limits of 5000W at 4 ohms

@@wal If your home/shop has sufficient power you can use a 60Hz test tone and hook a bunch of toaster ovens up to the output for ballast. A new rating of toaster ovens per channel is thus achieved! 😀 Funny story with 60Hz sine tones, many years ago I used my HiFonics Zeus Series 7 to power a circular saw and was able to cut studs as easily as if I had a generator. Even used TECHMASTER PEB "bassgasm" as a source. Lots of notes below 60Hz and the saw's motor brushes didn't like that too much and the amp went into protect a few times but no harm done. My side hurt from laughing so hard that day and the day after!

@@wal but could you test the xli 3500 for me please. I know you already test the xli 1500

If you look up the company, they actually have a brick and mortar headquarters and decent looking website. I guess that's to help their image and make it look more legitimate, but otherwise it seems like "white van special" for flea markets and internet. Also mildly funny that they went through the trouble of using an expensive toroidal transformer...that probably costs more than all the rest of the components in the amp combined. Maybe the new version will have a switch mode supply and concrete weights to save money. 😁

Been watching your videos for a while and just subscribed. I just purchased a couple of inexpensive pro amps. Rockville RPA12 to run my old Cerwin Vega 12" house speakers and the Rockville D14 for my two Dayton Audio Ultimax 15's. They sound really good but was curious about the actual wattage. I would love for you to test these out on you amp dynoand get you input on value.

Hi sir, can you please do a LOT more pro-amp testing? I'll like to see those Sinbosen Labgruppen and Powersoft clone amps tested.

Well 50 watts is about the going wattage for any Home audio power amp in that range. Which is basically what it's good for. Maybe to power ATMOS or rear speakers in a pre/pro surround system.
