I get that. But I hope it shines a light on how it is to live that way and that people turn their life around after seeing it reflected through his disgusting life. I lived that way when I moved into my first apartment. So I do get it. That was also 20 years ago. And I grew up over a few years and learned how to not live like a gross troll. It's actually really weird that Asmon doesn't grow or try to grow beyond where he's at, especially when he has the resources to do so. I still like the dude and I do think he's "real", which is laudable, but he's not healthy or smart or living well or making responsible choices or acting like an adult or being a good role model or etc... like, he's stuck in a child's mentality, and other people using him as some standard of being "okay" to justify their own lifestyle is not a good thing at all. I very much and sincerely doubt he's happy. The man won't live past 50, I've been watching him since 2013, does he enjoy what he does? In a way, but is he happy deep down? Definitely not, I'd stake my life on him being chronically depressed inside at the very least given his extremely poor way of living, personal hygiene, panic and anxiety attacks and more. Just the fact alone that he chooses to live in a dirty collapsing house despite being a multi-millionaire company owner, with asbestos in the walls and blood marks across his bedroom wall from when he used to pick his decaying teeth that would bleed and wipe them across the wall is enough of an indicator that there are deep psychological issues inside there...

For the "what side do you make/eat with steak" question, I always have pretty much the same answer. I caramelize some onions and diced radishes with a bell pepper. It blew my mind a few years ago when I found out just how delicious fried radishes are. They get so sweet and savory and that kind of "spiciness" that radishes have totally goes away, same as it does with an onion. So great over a ribeye. Also, if you've not seen, Asmongold actually reacted to a video by a guy by the name of Beergr who did a really fantastic response suggesting ways to make even more delicious steaks that would fit Asmongold's... interesting palate.

Oh and if you want an odd plumbing story , instead of Scorpions clogging , imagine finding once coral reef snakes !! Honestly, that story made me appreciate living in Germany. The worst pests we normally get around here are, i don't know, the common housefly and nosy neighbours who just absolutely have to socialize with the whole house.

Hmmm not so sure I agree with that last part. Sure it is important to live the way you like. And many people start living outside their means. But having the money, and not improving your quality of life at all really seems a bit of a waste to me. Maybe he does not know where to start and stays within his comfort zone. That last part can be tricky to overcome.

@@0xszander0 Is it improving quality of life though, if you'd be happier with your old lifestyle? I mean, if I had to choose between one of those big-ass homes on TV, with no clutter and high gloss everything, or my parents' home? I'd always choose the latter. I like my home to be comfy and don't care about stuff being expensive. Same with food. Yeah, you could eat wagyu, caviar and oysters a lot, but why would I if I actually prefer eating some pasta with garlic, oil and parmigiano reggiano?

@@0xszander0 He does improve his QoL, but he streams a ridiculous amount, so there's no reason for him to upgrade. Like in this video he said he doesn't cook much so why would he need expensive equipment? He doesn't like traveling, and seems to drive only to like chipotle and the like so why would he need a nice car? List goes on. You could make a point on his filthy man cave but that's different.

This was a great watch! Even as a lover of cooking, it's only recently that I developed a taste for non-well-done steaks - blame my parents for that one. I still don't *dislike* them well done; people get so picky and elitist about doing things the "right" way, but at the end of the day, the real right way with food is "Does it taste good to you, personally?". And if you're into a tougher texture, and appreciate a more proteiny taste rather than a fatty one, power to you; well done is just fine. Suggestion for you, out of the blue, Chef: I would *love* to see a crossover between yourself and Dr Mike from Renaissance Periodization. You've got such different relationships with food on two such extreme ends; I think a conversation between you two on cooking and nutrition would be amazing. Hell, maybe you could try one of those "diet swap for a day" things, and have him cook you his bodybuilding diet, while you cook him the kinds of things you love to eat. :)

I have to disagree with u thinking having someone else do the dishes for you is best. It's certainly not the best if those ppl are elderly like ur parents who just refuse to use the dishwasher and instead want to hand wash everything. Then they are still somewhat dirty no matter what cause they were washed by hand poorly etc. As for what u pair with a steak, potatoes for sure, and if u have the time a good old hearty southern Mac and cheese bake.

It's been a while since I've had a steak but I'd love it with patacones or white rice and salad. And... I'm surprised people don't like to do the dishes! I LOVE doing it, it actually relaxes me (back in uni when I had to write scripts, I'd do the dishes to come up with ideas fr). Scorpions up in the toilet? Nightmare fuel 😱 I just remember when I first started rentinf, for some odd reason, whenever the upstairs apartment would do the laundry, their water would come out in our place. And once it got so bad that water once reached the main door 😅😅 a whole hallway+ living room flooded

Asmongold is a really good entertainer and his cooking videos are fun to watch. Also very good reaction. Especially since his cooking probably makes most chefs want to pull out the hair from their head. Btw, he also has a pizza making video too. On another note, a scorpion from the toilet?! I still remember the shock of watching videos, where snakes come out of it. Guess it's another thing to add to the list of what I don't want to see coming up from there.

First time watching him and he honestly seems like he's on the autistic spectrum with the way he's about food despite being in his 30s or something. He reminds me of some of the kids I used to work with. I obviously don't know him but I think the way he lives has more to do with mental comfort than necessarily intentionally being humble as a virtue.

I’ve only subscribed to two pro chefs. You and only one other. I didn’t name the other chef because I don’t want to get blasted on the comments lol. However I find your videos more relatable and educational. I also love how you don’t make us viewers feel like less of a cook if we can’t invest in expensive equipment, and that’s although something might not be ideal, it’s ok if that’s all we have to work with. I’ve always been intimidated by cooking from scratch, but you’ve inspired me to try. ☺️
