10:24 I am so glad someone finally acknowledged this aspect of the WAD. The way the levels organically change theme from techbase to mountain to castle to straight Hell is so seamless, it gives the WAD this sorta sense of...for lack of a better word "adventure". Doom WADs often don't do environmental storytelling unless it's for set-dressing but in NRFTL, you can reasonably tell how close you are to the end with how far towards pure, diabolical Hell you're getting. This episode is genuinely one of my favorite Doom WADs of all time.

I'm currently working my way through this episode. Definitely think Vivisection's among the more harder Doom maps I've gotten through thus far because of the number of monsters you have to kill off in tight corridors.

Vivisection, if played without a certain secret just for kicks, is definitely a good challenge for the average player!

It's great being able too see a different perspective on games that you can tell the person is passionate about seeing as I didn't grow up with this series and its great to see how they formed what would become my childhood.

A curry, a bottle of non-alcoholic cider and Civvie playing a stellar DOOM expansion. Nothing better on a Friday evening after working retail.

A bottle of actually-alcoholic cider would probably be a tiny bit better

“A symphony of violence!” I’ve been watching your KZitem channel for a long while now, and I gotta say, this is the best one you’ve made so far! Civvie 11, you are an internet legend

Just played it with Brutal Doom. I really like the concept of the final fight. You start in a crowded maze, trying to thin the hordes to be able to move around, when a Cyberdemon shows up and starts hounding you inside the maze. You can choose to click switches and reduce the amount of walls and get room to maneuver, but at the cost of bringing in more imps. Really good stuff. I wish the final boss room had 3 times the amount of enemies. Maybe two CDs after you kill the first one. Would give me reason to completely reduce the maze to a large arena with little walls in it

Agreed. The maze, that you slowly open up, is a fun setup for a legit rocket duel with the Cyberdemon.

I actually played this on my 360 to get the achievements. I didn't find even half the secrets you did. It's great to hear you talk positively about this, I'm really glad you enjoyed it.

I feel like the way you describe that first level is art, and the level itself rises to an experience worthy of being art. What fun!

I suggest you to review some of community-made doom megawads. There are many megawads with outstanding quality, even better than most of commercial games. My recommendation is Ancient Aliens by skillsaw

Analytics may reveal that I watched this video in several sittings. That's because I downloaded this, played each level, then watched your commentary on it. 10/10. Will boom shoot again.
