PRO MUSICA 1979 is a 40-minute programme entered by Xandir Malta for the International Radio Contest organised by the Hungarian Radio and selected amongst the 8 winning programmes.
The programme entitled Malta's Greatest Ambassador which has English script read by Charles Arrigo, was written by Emy Scicluna. Victor Aquilina, Head of Programmes, was responsible for the overall production. This programme outlines briefly the influence of Italian opera in Malta but covers mainly Oreste Kirkop's meteoric rise to fame as a leading operatic tenor of the post-war era.
