Trust & Safety professionals are on the front lines of working to create safer and healthier environments on tech platforms, so we at PDN were really pleased to see prosocial design play a key role in TSPA's guidance. In this conversation Jen and Sasha unpacked "Safety by Design" and discussed the challenges of integrating prosocial design and where research needs to go.
About Sasha and Jen:
Sasha Mathew is a seasoned T&S professional with a background in law and regulation. She holds degrees in public administration from Harvard’s Kennedy School and Oxford University. She has worked in a variety of T&S roles: product policy lead at Twitter, Director of T&S at Concentrix, and in civic integrity at WhatsApp. She is currently the global head of policy at Bumble
Jen Weedon has been a leader in online safety & security for two decades, and is currently an independent T&S consultant. Her most recent role was with Niantic Labs, where she helped build out the trust & safety team and established and led a safety by design program and a red teaming practice for product and game teams. Prior to that she led teams at Meta focused on identifying and mitigating emerging harms through intelligence, investigations, and cross-functional partnerships. She has degrees from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and Smith College.
