Thanks, Dan! Straight to the point, without wandering off or jumping into the vast rabbit hole of PT.

Here’s another question. I did, in the last days, a rehearsal recording of a band. They did four takes of a song which I recorded in protools back to back, to mean in sequence. I’d like to compare them and choose elements of each song that are better than another take. Is there a way to cut each tracks-which has four instruments, and put them below each of the other takes to compare each instrument using solo to get the best recording? Sorry I’m a nuwb and learning.

Hi new excellent video new sub here , I'm a newbie and have been using protools since may . I had been able to consolidate tracks with no issues until last night when i consolidated some tracks and after consolidating the waves go gray and won't playback any sound . I opened a different session just to see if it was that session and specific and the same thing happens after i consolidate any track it doesnt playback . Visually the wave looks consolidated but it changes and looks like an inactive track

Can you right click on the clip and see if it is muted by chance? Usually when it's greyed out the clip is muted.

@@AudioSorcerer I think it might be because the waves are so long and i am maybe not waiting enought time . The session is 2hrs and 43minutes . I opened another session and consolidated and it worked just fine . I'll keep trying it

how do you consolidate them if some are muted and you want to move them but they are silent. without turning them all back on individually

I'm not sure I'm understanding the question. If you have muted clips in your track and you consolidate them, the new wave form will be muted in those places. If you want to unmute those clips prior, I think you have to do them one at a time.

There's no such thing as consolidating tracks. Are you talking about mixing down tracks together?

Terms have slightly different meanings in DAW world. In Pro Tools you “Bounce” tracks together. That will put two or more Audio tracks into one track. In Pro Tools “consolidate” means making your fades and edits to a single track embed into the track. The rack permanently adds the changes.

I didn't realize Consolidate means the same thing as Group (I thought it meant making two tracks into one, but now I think that's called Combining, not Consolidating); how come you didn't say so? And the way too long boring self-aggrandizing introduction irritatingly takes up one-third of this video. But thanks for the info on sending an individual item from the Aux Files ƒ.
