I wish they'd just add English options already. We import this game enough that Konami should've done that long ago.

They do have fight songs for particular teams and individual players. You can buy em separately or in a team based pack on Japan's psn just make sure you set a separate PSN ID for that region. You can't access their dlc page if your PS4 is signed in through a North America based PSN id.

Thank you for the review, sounds way better than japanese amazon reviews. Did you play the last PS3 version of the series, the 2015 one and can you compare it? Many japanese reviews rate it really bad and say the improvement from 2015 is not enough and much content was cut, compared. Did you play it on the pro or normal PS4? I only own the slim and I don't really like putting a disc in it, because it is so loud. But I wonder about the performance, so I don't want to spend 60€ importing a game which might run like poo on it. btw: Let's go GIANTS! Viva Giantsu!

Thanks for the comment, Melphiz! 2019 was actually the first time I picked up the series since…god. A decade ago or so. So I can’t really compare to 2015 or whatever version I played before (I honestly don’t remember much about it and don’t have that copy any more). As for 2019, I was playing on a launch PS4, so I can’t comment on what it’s like running on a Pro. Performance was absolutely fine. No hiccups or anything that I recall. Cheers! - Danny

@@TheFamicast I see. Did you have a chance and test the player career mode? I wonder if the A.I. batter still bat your maxed 168 km/h (ridiculous, right?) straight like it's their morning practice. Really, I was so disappointed that there was not really a difference between my player having D/C and going 138 km/h and having S/S with 168 km/h ... I expected the A.I. to not be able to hit it nonstop from the corners even. I wish there would be an option for the Pacific League to not have a designated hitter ... :D Also I wish, you could watch the game and not just look at the simulation screen and wait for your turn to pitch ^^

@@MugenTomoe I did try the mode briefly, but didn't quite get to that point! Man, after watching that Pacific League almost exclusively for the past few years, I've really come around on the DH. I actually bought a used PS4 last year specifically to play this game. I think it looks awesome and game play is good, but I didn't play very many games before going back to Powerful Pro Yakyuu hardcore. For me the main problem that kept me from being hooked is that batting seems kind of off and I haven't been able to tweak the settings to find something to my liking. For me, homeruns are way too hard to come by, while base hits are way too easy. It was easy to have hits in the high teens with no homeruns in most of the games I played. In Power Pro this was not an issue for me. The overall game play also does not feel as smooth as Power Pro and as un-intuitive as it sounds, I found Power Pro to be the more realistic "feeling" baseball game. I think perhaps the cartoony graphics of Power Pro allows the player animations to be more fluid in most situations. It's not to say I dislike this game or anything, and I will play it once in a while and am happy to have it (and happy to have a PS4 since I also got to experience a couple of other great games on it), but for me Powerful Pro Yakyuu will likely remain my main baseball game for some time to come. By the way, I love Japanese pro baseball, but I don't really have a favorite team. I have just enjoyed following the Japanese leagues since I was in high school almost 30 years ago.

Thank you so much for the detailed comment! At this point, I've played Power Pro (both the 2019 and this year's 2020 version) on the Switch more than I have Spirits. The batting feels fine to me in both, but it definitely sounds like you might have put in more time than me. For me, just having a realistic (visually at least) representation of the sport that I love is awesome. Power Pros DOES indeed have a very realistic feel to it despite it's cheerful appearance. Damn! You've been a Japanese baseball fan for THAT long! I've only gotten into truly over the past four to five years. It's a lot of fun to watch and a ton of fun to go to games. Anyway, thanks again for the comment. Appreciate it! - Danny

I've had this since the day it came out back in July of 2019. Wasn't cheap either. Was over 100 bucks to buy digital. Worth every penny. The amount of time I've sunk in us tremendous. Hardest thing is the language barrier but once you figure out what is what it's a great game. Pitching and hitting are light years ahead of the show. Fielding is a little clunky though. All in all well worth your time and money especially now since like you said it's nearing EOL.

Thanks for the comment, Joe. That’s wild! Where did your uncle play and when? As for the game, your best bet would be to check either eBay or places like Play Asia. Since it’s a 2019 release, it might be a bit hard to grab from an online shop, so eBay might be your best bet. It also should be available on the Japanese PlayStation Store, but that would require setting up a Japanese account and probably paying the initial retail price which isn’t cheap! Hope this helps. - Danny

Ya know, with the series not returning this year, it makes me wonder if that’s what they’re doing. A similar thing happened before Spirits 2019. The game before that was in 2015 and on PS3. Perhaps they’re trying to get a handle on the new hardware so the game could really shine. Or maybe they’re just focusing on mobile for the series (I hope not!) - Danny

I have been studying japanese for a couple months, mainly for gaming honestly. I have a decent grasp on hiragana and katakana but it feels practically useless with how prevalent kanji is. I plan on learning kanji as well but between the other two and vocab I don't want to overload myself. Any tips for learning kanji? Repetition was easy enough for hiragana and katakana but kanji has sooooo many symbols.
@TheFamicast
3 жыл бұрын
First of all, thanks for the comment! What you’re doing now is basically how I started out. Hiragana and katakana took me a few mo TGS to get down. I was also in a university class so I had some accountability with quizzes and the like, too. For kanji, it’s really tough. There are a lot of them that you need to know to read things smoothly and it just takes a long time. Repetition is the best teacher here. And time. If you find yourself getting burned out on flash cards, I’d suggest checking Japanese gaming related articles and/or websites. The latter is how I picked up a lot of kanji honestly. I wish you the very best in your studies! - Danny

@@TheFamicast Thanks for the reply! Yeah, it seems memorization always proves to be the best teacher. It just feels like a massive task to learn 2,000+ characters when 92 total from hiragana and katakana took months as it is. But you guys already helped me a bit. Your video on Power Pros baseball really made me want to play that series again and there were already some japan exclusives I wanted to play. So the other day I got a japanese eshop card and bought a game on my switch. So when I am burned out on studying I can relax with a game but still see some of the language being used and see what parts I can pick out. Sort of like mini studying while having fun haha
