I loved Senorita the first time I heard it, and I can't stop listening to it. So for me it's just as good as Hann and Latata; If not better. I particularly like the Men's earthy, Latin voices shouting out Senorita and how it introduces the spatial, majestic brass section; yet this is still underpinned by the laid back beat. This contrasts nicely with the girl's voices. I love Yuqi's you foo fooo foo voo voo voo voo voo and how her voice rises on the you. Whilst a lone distant trumpet can be heard. This song exudes confidence. The lavish, sensual, classy MV is excellent. Love the rich colours used particularly magenta. The girls look stunning in their beautiful clothes. Love the pick up hook on the chain swinging past Shuhua contrasting threat with fragile beauty . And also listen to the subtle random-like vocalisations such as at 1.00 into the MV. Didn't notice at first the Senorita razor blade in Soyeon's lollipop. A Latin inspired Kpop song. Brilliant and addictive.

As always, a great analysis. I think you really nailed what I had been struggling to put into words about why I found "Señorita" so much more addictive the more I listened to it. Whether Soyeon consciously intended this as she was putting it together (and I like to think that she did - she is THAT good) or whether this reflects Big Sancho's input, as you said the end of the song compels you to re-listen, and it becomes a feedback loop of intrigue. (In some ways I feel like the extra bars at the beginning of the video accentuate that even more as opposed to the cold open of the recorded version). Combined with the ambition you noted in CLC's "No" I really feel like Soyeon is not content AT ALL to go the easy route, and it is to Cube's credit so far that they've been willing to let her have this much room to grow on A-side high-profile tracks. Anyway, great video, and definitely headed over to Patreon right now to help support your insight! (And if, as I suspect, you're in the Bay Area, waving from across town!)

MINH GIS-RS Definitely think “No” was better for CLC than “La Vie En Rose” would have been. It fits their strong powerful image and I feel will be more memorable. The song is great but I don't know if you caught what exactly was happening in the music video so I will try and explain. From what I see, the girls have checked in to some sort of twisted hotel of some sort? And you see them paying for a ticket with a razor blade. On the ticket it says "Get Lucky" which is exactly what they all do by avoiding death throughout the entire video (or at least coming very close to it and us not being able to see what happens next) - Soyeon eating a lollipop with a razor blade in the center as she walks down a hallway with exploding lights - Soojin inside a free falling elevator (and coming out later unharmed and an outfit change) -Yuqi sitting in a room with a gas leak and Minnie walking in with a birthday cake with lit candles (Fire + gas = 💥) - Shuhua walking down a road as the hook of a crane swings and barely misses her twice - Minnie walking under a neon sign and moving right before it hits her - Miyeon barely escaping being electrocuted by a blower dryer hitting the water on the floor - Minnie letting go of the crane hook that is suspended way up into the air - Yuqi walking towards an open sewer system Maybe you did notice but I just wanted to be sure because I think it's such a cool concept!

I've been anticipating your reaction since the first minute of the comeback and I'm so glad that you liked it because of how polarizing this song is, a lot of people either hate it or love it. I'm also really glad that you finally got into (G)I-DLE as they are my favourite group For me personally, I absolutely love the song and I'd put it above their other title tracks. It might be exactly because it is so slow and unconventional, it might be because Soyeon isn't going in hard on this one and doesn't grab all the attention with how thrilling her raps usually are so you can get an even better impression of the talent of the other girls. It might as well be because a lot of people finally start praising my bias Minnie. It's highly likely that it is also because the song once again sounds different from everything they have released so far. I love their versatility, their uniqueness and their distinct voices and I absolutely love the fact that every single song on their album was produced and written by at least one of their members. I also love how even their b-sides all sound different from eachother and their previous releases. However, I might still prefer $$$ over Senorita but it is a close one, especially because Senorita gets even better with every time I listen to it. And that's already.. A LOT. But my favourite song now is "Give Me Your" from their new album with "Put It Straight" being a close second. Looking forward to your listening party now, hopefull I'll be able to catch it^^

This song feels anticlimatic, I wasnt expecting this super amazing beat drop but the chorus feels empty, like there's something missing. And I hate to say this but I wasnt feeling soyeon's rap, the ad libs make it sound off beat and its just not it for me. But despite I didn't like the song, I liked the concept since I speak spanish and I hope they have success with this song because they're really talented

she half divided her rap from the 4/4 time sig. to 8/8 and the syllables hit with a 3-3-2 pattern plus a descending bpm, ending with around 120 bpm compared to the 128 bpm it started with according to the instrumental. adding a couple of leftover bars at the end. dats my favorite verse from her lol, its just so cool man. i do get why people cant relate to the time divisions though, pop listeners are expecting a simple even time sig

i do agree on the outro being too long without a final chorus though but it does have its advantage and purpose too. kill this love has the same pattern too, maybe its going to be more mainstream in kpop from now on 🤷 idk

11:40 for this part where your talking about the latin sound. I wanted to comment that there are different kind of Latin sounds depending on where its from. Like the trumpets give me Cuban OG trumpet vibes but then the castanet sound is totally Spanish (Spain) style. I think that what makes this song sound unique but still trendy. 16:52 Also when you mention the set and where they got there inspiration if you look up 1980/1990 Colombian architecture thats what the "outside" shots look like, the neon lights and like hotel setting is sooooo Miami 1980s it looks like it was inspired during time or at least that vibe

Informative review as always. Took me a few listens to really appreciate this song. I've noticed that this is a group/Soyeon that really makes their music and MV's seem basically like they are already setting us up for another huge stage show at the end of year awards. Composition really impressive too! Yuqis part was so good! She stood out more to me this time.

For me this is one of those songs that without specific vocalists this would not work for example Soojin's seductive voice and Yuqi's chilling voice just add more texture to the song imo

Btw PD, did you notice how all CUBE's artists' videos this year have a repeating theme (more or less): red & blue? Look at Huta, then CLC, now (G)I-DLE and even Ilhoon's short film for Spoiler AND video for a new song "Farewell Again" by CUBE's ballad group A Train to Autumn. I was honestly shook, do you think it's on purpose or just the same director who prefers this aesthetic? If the MVs' for new unit of WooseokXGuanlin & Pentagon will have it to I would be honestly blown.

As a latin american it isnt that popular that kind of music, theres a couple of songs and singers who do that like rosalia but shes special, so yes this is very special song and performance and the delivery its fantastic just a masterpiece, as you mentioned it you have to let it grow into you

I'm (of) Latin American (descent) and I felt the same too. It seems to have a more Spanish- as in Spain- influence more than anything. I can't put my finger on why though

Other Idol members: Girl in the elevator with the dark hair is Soojin shes a rapper/vocalist and dancer , The very pretty girl with the straight hair and resting bitch face is Minnie Lead vocalist (the one holding the cake) , The girl in the bathroom is Miyeon Main vocalist (and the other member that was in KDA) , Also rumour has it that idle has a 6th member she doesent have lines so u cant hear her in the songs but she appears sometimes in the MV's (the girl walking down the street with black hair Shuhua shes the Visual ... aka my bias :D)
