To answer your question if you missed something, well, you missed years of practice. Like any other medium, and maybe even more, spray paint take years of practice to get used to. These 3 spray paint are professional spray paint grade, so you cant go wrong, then it just comes to preference, between pigment and pressure. These spray paint are designed to paint murals, not canvas. You can do it, but again, they are design for you to paint big, and outside. Thanks for the video

Great information! I’ve been using Montana’s products for a while now and I personally really enjoy them. Although I have been using them a lot, I have never heard much about Montana White, so that was why I clicked. Recently I’ve been using their Gold line because it’s pretty accessible you can find it in art stores for a fair price. I really use primaries in my work, and I find the colours to be be pretty close to the advertised swatch. BUT your background is a big component of that. Painting on a light or dark surface can change the shade or tint of your final product giving it the appearance of a different hue. If I have the coin and am patient enough (as it has to ship), I will usually go for Montana’s 94 line. I find it’s more opaque than Gold and Black, and therefore more true to the swatch, which makes the designer naming a little easier, and it has the same colour options as the Black and Gold line as well. The cherry on top is that the 94 line and most other MTN lines have a cap in lieu of the black ring. I would say if you’re just getting into street art or mural work, Black, preferably Gold (so you can learn can control), are good starts and they’re accessible. If you want to minimize some of the cons you listed, go for a different MTN line. I also don’t know what Liquitex offers as I’ve never used it, but I love the variety of caps for Montana products; New York Fat, Super Fat, Skinny Cap, Medium Cap. Would love to see you review more MTN lines if you haven’t already. Subscribed! Edit: MTN does have a fairly odorless, water based line as well. Although, I have not used it, so I can’t verify if it lives up to expectations.

Awesome info, I was considering buying a set of these for my space art paintings. I see a lot f people using them but was unsure of the difference. I have a set of Hardcore graffiti cans but Montana has such brilliant vibrant colors

Gold is actually the most expensive then the black then the synthetic also the names are all different they are not gonna be specific to the color of course these are artist paints not your average hardware paint pretty much no downsides at all these cans are the best in the world hands down there isn't any research needed because the donut around the cap shows the color if the paint so u get what u see and always wear a respirator synthetic paint is the only cans that aren't UV resistant so those tend to fade over time in direct sunlight

Good to know about the UV exposure. Sounds to me like color matching isn't as much of an issue for you as it might be for other artists. If you're buying online it's not as simple as just looking at the color of the ring. Plus the lack of pigment info makes it very difficult for a traditional painter to make accurate color choices

Avoid using spray paint inside your studio, even if you have a good ventilation system. Even when used outside, you must wear a mask, 3M with filters, for your health

So the BLACK is not ideal for painting small projects? Moreso for graffiti?

Depends on what kinds of projects you're doing. If you don't need a high pressure can then it likely isn't necessary

At the time of recording the black was more than the gold at Blick's. This is no longer the case obviously.

they call it skin spray paint so does that mean it can be used on your skin? The product description is very unclear
@cinderblockstudios

Never heard it called that, but spraying on your skin would be very hazardous!

Heritage Collections West 0 seconds ago STAY AWAY FROM MONTANA with the fancy logo. ONLY use Montana 94. I can’t stress enough! Always look for the “94” Reason why? The Montana (with the fancy graffiti logo near the bottom on the rear of the can? Is a knock off of Montana 94. I ALWAYS have issues with their tips and leakage.

Never had an issue with leaking thus far. Are you shaking your cans thoroughly?
