Lecture series on HEP Statistics: An Introduction to Statistical Analysis in Physics
Prof. Harrison B. Prosper, Florida State University, USA
Abstract: The goal of these lectures is to introduce key notions in statistical
theory and practice using examples from particle physics and one from cosmology.
The examples have been chosen to illustrate principles and methods that are
broadly applicable. Therefore, the lectures should be of interest to students and
postdocs in physics and engineering. The first lecture covers probability and
likelihood, while the second and third lectures cover the basic principles of
frequentist and Bayesian statistics, respectively.
