Sub-16 parkrunner here. Your form looks very good and you slotted into sub-17 pace well early doors. Get a few speed sessions in (8*400 w/ 1 min recovery is a good one for 5k) and top up your aerobic base with some easy runs and you'll easily break 17. Good luck to you.

Pretty tough trying to break a 5k personal best in windy conditions unless, of course, the wind is behind you the whole way! One could see your running shirt blowing before you began the race... Didn't fancy your chances. Think I'd have quietly left at that point... Still, 17m 29s is a very respectable time in any conditions, let alone bad ones!

Mark clearly won this. He is a high-level runner and an elite boxer. Francois just a high-level runner. The more well-rounded athlete wins the theoretical overall contest every time. Also reinforces my conviction that (fast) 5K-10K is the distance to target for most people. I mean if it's good enough for a boxer, it's good enough or me. I don't get all this craze with marathons. Good luck for the fight.
@Disinfo321

Misconception that because a fight is around 30 minutes you should only train for 30 minutes. Your aerobic base is the most important base, even Olympic sprinters run for 90 minutes before their session. Tempo runs, intervals, vo2max are all important too but your aerobic base is still extremely important.
@yianpap6093
9 ай бұрын
@@Disinfo321 I don''t know who has this misconception, but it isn't me! Obviously you also train for longer than the duration of your race/fight, this is just logical. I was talking about what people choose to train for, a 5K or a marathon. Oh, and sprinters don't run for 90min before each session, not sure where you got that from but it is wrong. I trained for sprints and the usual was at most a 5K warm up.

@@yianpap6093 I got it from my exercise physiology lecturer that ran the 800metres for team GB lol. He is also an exercise physiologist for team GB and told me the elite sprinters run 90 minutes before every session to build their aerobic base. But I guess because you “trained for sprints” he’s lying.
@yianpap6093
9 ай бұрын
@@Disinfo321 Just look it up and stop lol-ing. Just because aime lecturer told you does not make it universally true. Unless for him 800m is classified as a sprint. I have 100/200m as sprint in mind.
