Spot. On. Scott, I just had my CFI tell me "You're there"..! I've been chair flying a bunch recently, IN SPITE OF HAVING ACCESS to an AATD quality flight sim in my house. The sim puts it in context. It's helpful to isolate the task and chair fly it first... Right on when you say do it slowly at first. Automatic response will eventually come and the speed will be automatic. You won't be able to do it wrong or slow once you get this perfect. Thanks for you content. I'm going to point my students at your chanel!

Thank you! Yes! Work on the parts, then put them together in the SIM or the airplane. Perfect! That should be tip #6! Thank you for the comment and thanks for the vote of confidence!

Chair Flying...got really recognized in the 1974 Winter Olympics Grenoble. Times improved. As a helo student I built a control interface to work a drone loke a simulator. Practice hovering more than playing a video game.

Yes. As you noted, athletes have been using this for decades-because it works. The interface sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing!

Had an awesome instructor at Great Planes who taught me that to get better at radio calls. I would Tune in to my nearest ATC on liveatc to listen respond to the calls as if you were the pilot. Look up anything terminology you don’t understand. Chair fly as you go along for the extra bit.

Chair flying for pilots is like shadowboxing for boxers.

I love chair flying. I usually undergo emergency procedures and mimic positions of where the various instruments and controls would be. I like to practice radio calls in the car as well.

Excellent! Thank you for sharing. I practice radio calls in the car, too. I also listen to LiveATC and practice reading back and responding to those, too.

When I was learning radio procedures I would read back the instructions from the GPS in my car.

As far I know F1 pilots do this in their racing tracks, my great grandfather didnt had flight simulator at home so he practiced with chair flying for his DC-3, thanks for the tip I'll try it!

I am sure they do. I know that professional and Olympic level athletes use visualization and walk through exercises, too. I think you will find them very helpful. Thanks for sharing!

@@ScottKoonCFI I do use visualization for ski racing. I need to use more for my flying. PS, I am waiting for a DPE to schedule my checkride. Who knows how long this will take.

@user-jh5fm7ci6o Yes. If it works for ski racing I know it will help with your flying. Good luck. I hope you don’t wait long. It has been a struggle to schedule check rides for the past couple of years. Thanks for the comment.
