Professor Frank Van Veen's Inaugural Lecture: 'Discovering, Understanding and Conserving Biodiversity'.
In this talk, Frank gave an overview of his favourite scientific discoveries from a career studying the living world. While figuring out the differences between various tiny insects, untangling complex webs of interacting species, studying natural diversity in landscapes, attempting to contribute to conservation and getting excited about the possibilities that new technology brings to all this, Frank took us on a tour of English meadows, African savannahs and Bornean rainforests.
The introduction for this talk was given by Professor Mike Leyshon, with a vote of thanks from Professor Angus Buckling. The talk was held on Thursday 28th March 2024.
