During mid fifties, Sudhakontho Bhupenda had shifted to Calcutta(Kolkata) where he spent a long spell of 25 years in his Golf Club Road, Tollygunge residence. Apart from his works in Assamese, Bhupenda composed excellent songs which are still very popular in Bengal. Bhupenda rose to prominence & fame for his Assamese songs written, tuned & sung by him shows him as a great humanist. The Bengali version of those songs created history. Other than Assamese films, Bhupenda composed music in Bengali & other languages also. Bhupenda was a multifaceted talent. He showed his class as a Journalist, Film Producer & Director, lyricist, Music Director & Singer. It was a serious lapse that this important part of his life in Calcutta was not mentioned in this profile. This writer fortunately met him once in Calcutta airport in 1977 when he was going to Delhi to receive the Padmasree award. I spoke for a minute in the lounge but to my surprise I found him waving his hand while boarding the aircraft & loudly telling me - Akou log pam. Sadly this did not happen.
Really you are our great, nation never will get such a creative brain iin future , whose products will be saying the state Assam, Assamese, language ,land, natural resources and in every aspect he is also he will be staying to say I and we alive ot save our country , our mother land
