The beat maker video was super-inspirational: I started tinkering around with pygame like crazy after watching it. Great to see you made another music-oriented video. Thanks a lot!

Hey I am so glad you liked it!! I thin the name for the module being 'pygame' makes a lot of people drift towards using it just for games but it is a super friendly user interface package haha!! I love music and programming so I definitely want to keep doing projects like that too! Glad you liked it and welcome to the channel!!

Hey dude! Sure, I liked math and science in high school, so I decided I wanted to be an engineer, I got a mechanical engineering degree in college but always wanted to do more with software and computers and electrical. Now my actual work is called controls systems engineering, which involves automating factories! I actually learned python completely from internet tutorials and KZitem channels like freecodecamp, codemy, giraffe academy, and tech with tim! But if you like learning new stuff and are committed to just always getting better you can do the exact same thing! Self teaching skills is always so satisfying!

I just discovered this channel, and this is awesome. I just have one problem : I have a smaller pc (1920 x 1080) then the windows of pygame program is taller than my windows, then I had to modify 'WIDTH' to 24, but others function does not appear I think. So I will look at it but if you have recommandation I take it. Good evening
@lemastertech

Hi! Thanks for watching - I’m not sure what you mean the others function does not appear? Shrinking the overall size of the window will make you need to shrink each individual key but that’s not too tricky! Then same with spacing out the text and highlighted green rects

Would it be possible to modify this so that i can change how long the note is held down? such as press and hold a button to play quarter notes?
@lemastertech
Жыл бұрын
Hi! Yes it definitely would, but the tricky part there is you would probably want a new set of sound files that didn’t have the swelling/fading of a regular piano press. You would need to either switch modes from like traditional piano to a second set of sound files, or manipulate the existing sound files to just play the middle part on a loop! Either way would be very interesting but also a tricky bit of programming!

I downliaded the zip file, but how can i open it and have all the sources in the project?
@lemastertech
2 жыл бұрын
If you right click on the zip file and click extract all it will pull them all out of the zip file for you! Then just make sure they are in a folder in the same directory as your python project in whatever IDE you use!

Thank you for this! Definitely subbed. Also, something that could be improved on is potentially more notes in the code to follow along easier. I am simultaneously looking at the pygame documentation, but for someone who is a novice it might help a lot.

Is there a way to program the sound that come out of a physical keyboard?
@lemastertech
10 ай бұрын
There definitely is but most keyboard manufacturers would determine what that protocol or interface is! So unless you’d want to open up the electronics of the keyboard and do tinkering with the hardware as well as programming you’d want to look up your manufacturers specs on how to load custom sounds to it!
@bernienoma

@@lemastertech Thank for responding! Can you recommend a keyboard I should get? I know no programming but am a fast learner. Something reasonably priced would be nice but isn't a must.
@lemastertech

hi@@bernienoma - do you want a keyboard just for messing with electronically and programming or also just to learn and play piano? I have this one amzn.to/3SBSxJB and love it - but its pricey! Definitely more for someone who really wants to learn piano! I had a friend with this one in college and its alot cheaper but definitely doesn't sound nearly as rich in sound! amzn.to/46cZyU2

Hi I just tested it on mine too and it looks like thats a bug with how I wrote the code! You could change the code from being on button down to being on button up, or add some code telling the play code to only run once per click! There's a couple ways to fix that! Good luck!

@lemastertech
2 жыл бұрын
You for sure can make a chat app with python! If you wanted it to roll out as a mobile app it probably wouldn’t be the easiest language to use, but if you want to create a PC to PC app it could do just fine! Mobile app dev with python is not typically considered it’s biggest strength, but people still do it!

Hello- I didn’t integrate internal recording into this project so you’d have to add in a module that captures sound output as a wav or mp3 file then import it to a Digital audio workstation! I may do a DAW from scratch in the future!

Thank you for the video and resources. This actually helped me with a class project. I wanted to add to the program to change things and was thinking of preprogramming a song. I was wondering if you think that would be too easy to do, and if there's any cool ideas that you think can add to the piano.
@lemastertech
Жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it and glad it was useful! You could definitely program some songs to play automatically! That would be very cool, and it would just be a matter of giving each note in the sequence an amount of time or duration before the next note! That would be very cool, and you could definitely add maybe a recording or looping function too so you could play multiple layers at once!
