I like how your techno stab is a Dm chord against the other chords and bass.

Yeah, that always works well. In this case I really just experimented with voicing different notes without intentionally making a specific chord. Interesting how tuned our ears become to making these decisions unconsciously.

Those drums are damn near perfection mate. I'm loving your content overall, just stumbled on your channel recently. I particularly love how indepth in your going as there arent many channels that really do as good a job of this as you have.

Besides Underground Shades of House (obviously), what are some of the best sample packs out there for house and progressive/melodic house? I've been looking through Splice and Loopmasters and nothing is really catching my ear. Would love to know what people are enjoying these days.

Zenhiser make some great packs. Probably a bit more in the melodic techno direction generally though. To be honest, I use a lot of the same sample packs no matter what genre. If the samples are a good starting point then manipulate them to be your own and do what you need them to do. I get a lot of one shot sounds out of loops, or edit the volume envelope of loops in Ableton clip editor.

What is peak time? Anyone got a couple popular tracks for peak time
@dilbydj
2 жыл бұрын
I guess it's a pretty subjective concept. But in the context of Simon Doty's music, when I say "peak time" I am referring to his tunes like Trance Tool, Solaris and Reality Check. The term "peak time" generally refers to a sound that is more focused on the busiest time of the night when the club is packed and the energy is at it's highest.

loving this dilby! great video, would like to see the peak time one too I have a question, from your experience of playing live, do you have ways of telling if a songs kick + bass will sound on point on a clubs sound system? just come back from ibiza and the sound systems there are ridiculous, everything sounds perfect
@dilbydj
2 жыл бұрын
Nice one bro. Regarding kick and bass, I recommend finding one of those tracks you know sound great and use it as a reference. A very important thing is to make sure you reference a track in the same key.

For next time, can you create the elements in the video? In other words, rather than looking at it after its done, you create the elements while recording.
