Another really interesting and detailed video Sean, you're absolutely right to carry out a mock up build without the engine in place as you have more space to work with and you can get everything sorted in advance 😉👍👍. Something that I picked up on in your video was the gear linkage and my thoughts went back to my Mk1 Golf GTI experiences with replacement linkages. I recalled it feeling very positive with little lost motion but quite stiff all the way through the shift. I looked at what I think was the new Mk3 set up and could see that on one of the linkage arms they (VW) had incorporated a decent sized mass to give the system a little bit of momentum in the normal 1 - 5 plane. I experimented with this on my car and found that the overall effect was that the shift felt smoother. Maybe something to look into when everything is back together and you're working through your snagging list. I'm sure that you could make up a bespoke linkage arm that incorporates the required mass and market it on the channel 🤔😉👍👍
