"Lock knives are not classed as folding knives and are illegal to carry in public without good reason. Lock knives [...] have blades that can be locked and refolded only by pressing a button [...]" -- www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives
@Beef4Dinner22

@@adfeldhaus wow....as someone in the south in the US, that's crazy. I (and some others) carried pocket knives in high school. In college tons of people had them. It was technically against the written rules but nobody actually cared. I carry a knife on my back pocket literally every day, and have for like 10+ years. They are mostly seen as a tool, not as a weapon. Hell, in my state you can open carry (in plain sight) a pistol/ other firearm without a carry license (you only need one to carry concealed), so a pocket knife isn't a huge deal. I do agree we get a little (ok a lot) gun crazy on this side of the pond though.
@adfeldhaus

@@Beef4Dinner22, it's the locking nature that makes this one illegal in the UK. Concealed/disguised knives and blades over 3 inches are also not allowed. Small folding knives, swiss army knives etc. are fine.

@JeremyCook

That is really clever. TBH, I didn't really consider before that it was somewhere in between an X-acto blade and a box cutter, which seems super useful. Plus the spring retract instead of having a spring advance is a great feature as well IMO. Not crazy about knives popping out on me! Congrats on crushing the funding goal :-)

One would assume that craft knives are that design for a reason. I assume it provides much more dexterity while gripping it in a way that is very familiar to everyone (like a pen). Holding it between a thumb and forefinger enables tiny changes in position and rotation. Just thinking that in redesigning to fix an inconvenience you may have removed 99% of the usability and value of the tool.
@jolangse

My thought on this is that they haven't changed the craft knife at all, but rather created a different tool, with different (but sometimes overlapping) usecases. It just happens to use the same blades as craft knives.
@roryevans5032

A proper scalpel is much better. There are several handles to use, and many many different knife blade shapes, and they can be sterile. The blades also easily clip off into sharps containers for safe disposal.

Yeah I totally get that, I've had a few people get on me about not going to certain ranges because they required NRA membership. Don't really want to be told what club to belong to, don't want to be involved in the political side. Eventually we plan to have them available on some standard "shop" sites, but that will be after we've filled orders from Kickstarter and can supply a stock. Keep us in mind if you can hold on that long!
