Transcription in prokaryotes is the process by which RNA polymerase synthesizes RNA from a DNA template. Unlike eukaryotic cells, prokaryotic cells lack a nucleus, so transcription occurs in the cytoplasm. The process begins with the binding of RNA polymerase to the promoter region of the DNA. Then, RNA polymerase unwinds the DNA double helix and begins synthesizing RNA in the 5' to 3' direction, using one of the DNA strands as a template. The newly synthesized RNA molecule is complementary to the DNA template and is synthesized in the form of a single strand. Once transcription is complete, the RNA molecule can undergo further processing, such as splicing in the case of mRNA, or it can directly participate in translation to produce proteins.
at the end of video there is a brief summary of topic.
