I am really getting to like this trigger and have been playing with it since the Spring Gathering when I first saw it. This is another great variation.

Good stuff, Dave, thanks for sharing. 10-speed bicycle innertubes are handy for a tonfuck of things from improvised harpoons, slingshots, tourniquets, and as you have shown, spring loaded snares.

Just a thought for engine device, Harbor Freight has a 25' elastic cord (5/16" Dia.) that has ALOT of spring action. I've tested it as snare and works beautifully. It dont have to be cut, can just be tied off to tree, a limb or anything. Also numerious uses for tieing out tarps/rain flys. Packs away easy. Can be found on their website. Runs around $10. Just a thought.

Love the idea, i've always had issue with bank-lining for fish that the bait gets taken, but the hook doesnt set. I've tried a couple of different spring engine systems, but the trigger has always been a pain. I reckon i'll give this a shot next time, as it looks to be a good bet for getting a hook set.

That's rather ingenious! I've never seen a trap like that before. Have you made something similar to this, where instead of the fish being in the water and hooked, it'll hook the fish and draw it onto land so it can't escape?

You don't even need the promontory peg for this trap. It is an extra un-needed part. Just use a small stick and tie the trigger to the actual top bar at the tip and you eliminate all the carving and still remain sensitivity. Much like the Apache Limp wire trigger. And why would you want to carry a pre-assembled kit. If I'm not going ol school and I want to carry a fishing trap, y not just carry a 3 ounce yo yo trap. Just my two cents, good video.
